College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

The athletic lists the following candidates (alphabetical):

Casey Alexander (Belmont)
Chris Beard (...)
Brad Brownell (Clemson)
Chris Holtmann (Ohio State)
Dusty May (Florida Atlantic)
Jordan Mincy (Jacksonville)
Bob Richey (Furman)
Takayo Siddle (UNC-Wilmington)
Rodney Terry (Texas)

They predict Dusty May

His name has been floating out there. Canning Kermit early might be a move made to get out in front with Beard before other schools get a chance.
Yup, and it makes sense for them. It’s slimy and not a great feel, but when you’ve never been anything as a program and are desperate I get it.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Steve Forbes end up as a candidate, as well.

I predicted when he was hired at Wake that he wouldn't win "big", but that he'd make them respectable and if so, he'd be wise to quickly try and parlay that into a job where he has a better chance at winning over the long term. It could certainly be argued that that may be difficult at Ole Miss, but sustained success at Wake Forest just isn't very likely in the middle of Duke and UNC country. Plus he'd be resetting his clock at OM.

Forbes has varying levels of head-coaching success at both the mid-major and high-major levels, now, and he has SEC experience. Attended college in Arkansas, has ties in Texas, Memphis, and now North Carolina.

Similar to the circumstances that led Pearl to Auburn. High risk, high reward hire, but for a program with little to no history, it's a calculated risk. AU has really flipped their basketball profile based on the Pearl hire.

Forbes would make recruiting harder in Memphis for Tennessee.

Mississippi would probably have to pay a Kiffin type salary if they go after Beard in my opinion.
Not sure on that one. He's a bit toxic, right now. Not gonna be a long line for his services just because of the PR hit. Ole Miss probably gets him at a deep discount, I'd guess. Think Bruce Pearl going to Auburn as a similar example.

CBS Sports had May, McCaskey of North Texas and the Tulane head coach as the top three candidates for the Mississippi job.

Ole Miss fans seem to think they are getting Pitino lol. Pitino isn’t taking that job. If he stays put, he can have a number of jobs easier to win at open to him at the end of the season. Feels like Pitino is destined for St. John’s or Georgetown.

I’m think St.John’s but feel like he would want a better gig.

Dusty is from my neck of the woods and I played against him in HS. Great guy and I wish him the best, would to see him land a SEC gig.

There’s not gonna be many P5 schools willing to take him, not sure why you think that.
Not saying you’re wrong, but still surprised you think this after he was cleared. I don’t see the vast majority of these P5 athletic departments as bastions of higher morality myself. Just win baby and get butts in the seats seems to be the motto for the majority.

Someone will definitely take him, there just won’t be a long list so I don’t see his price being Top 3 in the country as the OP suggested.

this iowa and michigan state game is insane. iowa has hit 5 crazy threes down 13 with a minute 30 to go. on to overtime.

Wtf!

I was watching it up until about 2:30 left and walked away after Walker hit that shot to stretch the lead back to 10. Assumed it was over. That is nuts.
