College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

Knight never cheated and was uncompromised in his old school coaching methods. RIP Coach.

I remember when Kirk Haston from Lobelville went to IU

Obviously small sample size, but so far JJJ really seems to be buying into a lesser offensive role, and deferring to the other scorers.
You'll not convince anyone of it. I tried with that other bozo who created a thread dedicated to ripping JJJ after the Michigan St. scrimmage. Those people have their minds made up about him already, and are just waiting for the first game where he struggles to say "I told you so". They'll ignore all the rest where he blended in nicely and played his role.

As long as he does that on most nights, I'll overlook the occasional offensive clunker. If he begins to routinely try and take over the offense while shooting 30% from the field, I'll be first in line to say he needs to knock it off. But as you said, thru two exhibitions, he's been effective in filling his role as a defender, rebounder, and opportune scorer who hasn't tried to do too much.

Season hasn't even started yet and he's already acting like a clown.
Beg to differ. He is a good coach. You may not like his methods - that would be a legitimate argument!
But he puts a top quality product on the floor ... finished at 20th last season (Sagarin and NET) ... preseason rankings 9th (Fanta) 13th (Maro) 14th (AP) 16th (ESPN) 18th (SI). Your team gets ranked high year over year because you have recruited or brought in great talent and you do something with it on the floor.
He is not my favorite individual. If fact, I do not care for him at all!
BUT, he is a very good coach.

How in the hell do players take him serious?
It looked and sounded like some of the players are actually laughing at his antics.
On the dislikable scale he is slightly below Bruce Pearl on my list.

... and well he did get 4 3 players drafted last year .... so ...
oops ... corrected!

Basketball’s version of Beamer, except unlike Beamer he does know how to coach.

I don’t think he throws people under the bus with the excuse making quite like Beamer does sometimes.

He does do a lot of weird, out of the box stuff but players seem to have fun with it. His personality behind closed doors and in practice is very demanding and completely different from these motivational stunts though.

As an Arkansas fan you’re looking at him through a different lense since he coaches your team. I only see him during the games regularly picking at his nose, constantly griping to the officials, and the well publicized stunts like taking his shirt off which are all Beamer like from my perspective and make him off putting to opposing fans. As far as assembling a team and coaching them, Beamer isn’t in his league.
