College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

As an Arkansas fan you’re looking at him through a different lense since he coaches your team. I only see him during the games regularly picking at his nose, constantly griping to the officials, and the well publicized stunts like taking his shirt off which are all Beamer like from my perspective and make him off putting to opposing fans. As far as assembling a team and coaching them, Beamer isn’t in his league.
He definitely constantly gripes to the officials similar to how Saban does it. But there’s a line between that and going straight Pelini or Muschamp lol, I can definitely see how he’s hated by opposing fans but all of the stunts in a way just get eyeballs/marketing for the program which was pretty stale in that area prior to Muss. He’s near the top in interactions on Twitter among CBB coaches every year. Just gotta live with it I guess

Season hasn't even started yet and he's already acting like a clown.

As a couple of you know, I chair a charity that sponsors young children that have short life expectancies to have some special moments with their families. Often times, this involves sports personalities. Without a close second, Musselman has continued to be the most exceptional person regarding making time, truly getting involved with the kids and families, and he has brought some outstanding young men and women from their programs to get involved as well. We have worked with about 106 college and pro sports organizations and he is by far and away the very best in terms of the most "present", giving the kids and families his complete attention and time, stays in touch with them afterwards, and even has paid for things anonymously. If you saw what I saw, then you would realize he and his wife are the best of the best...and a lot of programs (including one we cherish) could learn a lot from him.

God love you for the work you do, but the characterization of Rick Barnes/Tennessee as unwilling donors and participants isn't really necessary unless you are aware of a similar lack of willingness in all other charity work. A failure to provide an equal amount of attention and contribution to your particular charity of choice doesn't necessarily make him/them selfish, unwilling, uncaring, etc.

Praise Muss all you want for his work and willingness to be actively involved in your charity. I'm glad he is there and willing to help out. But you'd probably defend him tooth and nail if the American Red Cross, St. Jude, or UNICEF chastised him for not making a similar effort for their work. I'd bet there are numerous organizations in Tennessee/CRB's corner, as well, despite you not being a big fan of their participation level in the work you do.

Bingo. One thing you cannot accuse Rick Barnes of is NOT being charitable and giving back. Just three weeks ago, my dad’s office was invited to tour the basketball facilities as part of a partnership between Tennessee and his office for the Hellen Ross McNabb Center. Barnes is one of THE biggest supporters of that center according to my dad. He said Barnes is a constant presence and does what he can to give back to that place.

Just because he isn’t supporting one charity doesn’t mean he isn’t supporting any charity at all. I’m sure there are endless programs trying to get Barnes to donate his time and money and it’s not realistic to expect him to devote the same attention to all of them.

Pretty good 30 minute show about FAU

Yeah they beat us, but I really respect everything they represent as a program. Dusty May, all his coaches and players came back. No portaling and no jumping ship for a "better" job.

It'll be interesting to see how they do.
Unless they have an off night or hit a buzz saw ... I see them in the 16 and maybe in the 8.

If your coach is hated by opposing fans he is doing something right.

Michigan State is going to lose. Wow. Good thing we didn’t play them in a real game or it would have hurt our NET 😜

In all seriousness though, that’s shocking. Also kind of helps to temper my expectations a bit for this team because maybe MSU just sucks ass. Basketball is a weird sport, man. So much parity going on right now.

James Madison looked really good. Plus Michigan State couldn't make a 3 all night. Still a shocker with Michigan State favored by 16.

Just looked through the rest of JMUs schedule. They might finish with a really good record. MSU was the only ranked team on it.
