There is a regular season champion and a tournament champion. The tournament decides who gets the automatic bid to the NCAAT.
Hopefully in the not too distant future the regular season champion will get the automatic bid and the conference tournaments will be used as a play-in tournament for the NCAAT. I think the vast majority of people agree that the regular season championship is more impressive.Tks. The regular season champ should be THE official champ--because it's a more valid, since it covers 18 conference games and is a big sample. The tourney is far different--a small sample, simply not as meaningful--and if a middle-of-the-pack or bottom-of-the-table team wins the tourney--as often happens---suddenly you've got a less than legit team sharing conference bragging rights, and hanging a banner, with a team that did it the hard way and is more legit. It is what it is, I realize.
I would say we for sure jump Arizona (some places already have us ahead of them in SOS) and potentially could jump UConn but they play Marquette tonight and finish out the regular season against Providence. I believe we'll finish no lower than 4th in SOS. Arizona got a boost from their non-conference schedule, lord knows their conference schedule didn't do them any favors.UF moved up 7 spots in the NET to #26. Bama stayed at #7 and now have the #1 SOS. After UT plays SC and UK wonder where UT SOS will end up. As of this morning it's at #5.

For those who have led unsuccessful labor movements involving NCAA athletes, the vote by Dartmouth men's basketball players to unionize felt momentous — even if they are still a long way from forming the first union in college sports. In a 13-2 vote in a building on the campus in Hanover, New...www.thescore.com
