College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

Some strong horseplay. I wonder if it was Bruce or Steven Pearl who texted Jeff Goodman and tried to claim just some horseplay.

I don't like to jump to conclusions, but I was skeptical that mere horseplay caused the pilot to pull a U turn. Who knows what happened, but I think a full on fight makes more sense than horseplay.

Considering we have 2 open spots, and Dubar may not play at all this year, still probably would have benefited us to have him. We’re nowhere near as deep as UNC, so we could have used another potential role player.
Maybe so. But 1 minute for a ballyhooed portal player...oof.

But to your point, he probably does have some regrets.

I get that but he’s playing 1 minute because North Carolina has a loaded roster. He knew that going there. But he’s a kid from North Carolina, so he was probably okay taking that risk. I don’t think he’d be playing just 1 minute here.

Loaded, sure. But he was conference freshman of the year, followed by all conference and 16 ppg. Now he's getting a walk-on's minute. That has to really suck for him, especially since he's a NC kid. Again, to your original point about regret.

For sure he'd get more than a minute here - maybe Carr-like minutes. Kinda my original point....maybe he wasn't the big miss we thought.

I think there was some talk at the time that Tennessee decided to pass on Tyson after he visited. @Stoerner Fumbles can confirm/deny.
Maybe not that black and white, and a little foggy. My memory— He wanted to come here. Davis flew in to meet him, and then Tyson wanted to retrade NIL etc. After that, there were some back and forth discussions, but we were crowded at wing and backed off. From an original talent analysis, he was a strong take. It just fizzled when he backtracked.

Right, that's about how I remembered it. Thanks.

Correct with my memory as well…wanted some guarantees on minutes/shots and Barnes said we’re done here, enjoy Chapel Hill. He was set to be a Vol, Davis visited and Tyson went back to Tennessee basically saying give me these assurances and I’ll be a Vol.

What a clown show.
I don’t know, after tonight, maybe we should make a little tussle on the flights a tradition lol that Auburn/Houston game was a banger! WDE!!

Nah, that’s the Pearl culture. I’ll take our coach and our players ten times out of ten. Thanks, though, for the suggestion.
It was a joke dude. Where the heck did you get any of that from? I’m a big fan of Barnes and what he has done for this team. I very much love both teams, players, and coaches.

I know it was a joke, “dude.” Your screen name might give you a hint to your own question.
You think the name WarDamnVols suggests I would rather have Auburn and Pearl in replacement of the Vols and that they’re more superior than Barnes and the Vols players? I’d say that’s a bit of a reach, but ok.
