College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

Interesting that in answering my question.....no one has said, "give me Auburn".

I think who has the best shot will emerge after the pairings have been set. It ends up being more about that than anything else.

What we do know is there will be upsets with teams that rise up on that one night to beat a team they probably shouldn't.

Also, the SEC tourney is going to be brutal - good chance that some teams expend all they have trying to win that and do not have much left for the NCAA round. I have my doubts that the team that wins the SEC tourney will win it all - not because they aren't good but because there is a good chance that either over-confidence or tiredness becomes a factor.

Kentucky is pretty much a lock for a # 3 seed.
All the work we did this year and we end up a 2 seed and they and their 10 losses end up a 3 seed. smh....

How different would things be right now had we just got one of those wins against KY?
We would probably be a #1 seed and they would be a 4 seed minimum.
If we got both games they would probably be a 7-8 seed.
😏

Tennessee can beat anyone, anytime, anywhere.

My concern for Tennessee is they are reliant on Lanier and Gainey shooting well. And there's bound to be a game where they don't.

I also worry about a scenario where Okpara gets in foul trouble.

I agree for the most part. You seen my list, would you have Tennessee higher?

Yes.

If I were to rank them, the top 5 (6)......

1. Florida
2. Auburn
3. Alabama and Tennessee
4. Missouri and Kentucky.

I have Missouri and Kentucky there because I think "at their best", they are better than Ole Miss, Texas A&M, etc. Now, do you get their best? Can you get their best more than once?

As has been the case for Barnes tenure, tournament comes down to matchups. Could lose in round of 32 to hot shooting team or make final 4 if things land right. This team doesn't have a lot of depth so injuries, fly bugs, and foul trouble will be importantl factor next couple of weeks

Rank them in order. I mean don't have " and"

That's really hard to do with Alabama and Tennessee because I think they are opposite sides of the same coin. Tennessee can throttle people and dominate defensively. Alabama can do the same offensively.

I guess I might take Tennessee over Alabama, because defense usually doesn't take a day off and Alabama I think is more dependent on Sears offensively than Tennessee is dependent on any one player defensively.

Fair enough, but potentially you have them 4 and I have them possibly 4 if I could take an "and" , because I feel the same way with Texas A&M and us as you do with Alabama and TN. So we really aren't that far off.
We have a tendency to not show up on offense and it's hard to beat a team twice in same year.

Reason I don't have Kentucky higher is they haven't really followed a good game with another good game all year. Usually a loss. They are very incontinent, especially on D .

Again, this is not what I would like to see but if I had to put my hard earned money down.🙂

He asked, gave my opinion. 🤷‍♂️

Probably less confident in Kentucky without Robinson though. But they’ve been up & down all season. I just feel like they’re gonna be about as healthy as they have been since OOC.
Nah, I'm not knocking your opinion. Just providing some context around it. And you're right, they are maybe getting as healthy as they've been in a bit, sans Robinson.

My final prediction no matter what happens in the SECT, in S-Curve order:

1. Auburn, Duke, Houston, Florida
2. Tennessee, Alabama, Mich State, Wisconsin

I think we’re the #2 in the Midwest behind Houston. Final answer.

And Bama will jump us in the seed pecking order after today.
I wouldn't count on it. Beating Auburn in OT doesn't erase and extra loss or an extra Quad 1 win we hold over them. Not to mention we got the head to head, and they have lost 4 of their last 7.
Now, the AP might put them over us this week, but who gives two sh!ts what they think.

Bama has more quad 1 wins than us and a better resume.

Did anyone else realize St. Johns was super close to going undefeated this year? They lost 4 games by a total of 7 points. I think they have a good chance at making a deep run this postseason with how hard they play for ole ricky
