College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

Tennessee can beat anyone, anytime, anywhere.

My concern for Tennessee is they are reliant on Lanier and Gainey shooting well. And there's bound to be a game where they don't.

I also worry about a scenario where Okpara gets in foul trouble.
We don’t attack the paint consistently enough and rely on jumpers without ever penetrating the paint and, far too often, without even penetrating the arc.

This Houston team is very beatable. If we end up in the Midwest with them I'm not going to complain.

FWIW, SDSU NET dropped down another point.
Houston still has that quad 2 loss and losing at the break to Baylor 26-29. Little daylight through the crack of the door depending on how this game ends and Houston does in their tournament.

I’m aware. But I trust Auburn/Duke more than Houston who I think is a bit overrated and will be bounced early. It’s a tough question because I don’t think the gap between Auburn/Duke and the field is as large this year as UConn/Purdue were last year. Ultimately, I think the field probably wins because it’s 66 teams to pick from instead of two, but if you’re asking me to go to Vegas and put my money on someone, it’s probably one of the two teams that have been the best for the entire regular season.
Yeah. If I was picking A team, I’d probably pick one of those 2 as well. But if I’m picking those 2 vs the field, I’m taking the field.

tomorrow morning they will have 10 and we will have 9 unless Georgia bumps up to a quad 1. beating Auburn in Neville is the best win you can get from a resume standpoint and a feather in their cap
Yeah, I edited my post because the NET hadn't populated. We'll see. Probably a tournament call on that since they have the extra loss.
One win doesn't erase and complete loss....even if it is Auburn. We have that head to head to decide doubt.

It’s been stated before that the committee will weight head to head in situations like this.

👍Yep, that's what I just posting when you did.
That Georgia win real close to being a quad 1 for us. That Vanderbilt win today by 11 definitely will help.
Can still increase in the tournament if they can pull out a first round win.

Vols are going to drop to #8 in the AP poll on monday. It sucks because we had a very close loss to a good Ole Miss team, but the AP is very fickle
Not necessarily. Michigan Stats still has to get through Michigan. Alabama lost once this week, too. We have the better overall record which AP favors in close calls.
In any case, AP at this point is meaningless.

Houston has played the better game, and congratulations to them on actually handling business when it matters to lock down a #1 seed.

Having said that, I hope to God we don't see this ref crew in any of our games in NCAAT.

Houston is about to finish off Baylor to go 19-1 in the Big 12. Insane. The ACC and Big 12 are still good conferences but shells of what they used to be. It’s hard to believe we’re going to be 25-6 and in almost any other year that would be good enough for a 1-seed. College basketball is just very top heavy this year.

Yeah, anytime you go 19-1 in conference that super impressive for sure.
I'm just not impressed with this Houston team as far as the eye test at all.
Guess we'll see if they are a contender or pretender soon enough.
I would rather be in their bracket than Dook, but right now Lunardi has us with the Dookies.
Telling you now, if we make it to play them we will be a lot more frustrated than when we played Prude/Edey.

Lol what a crappy call. They called that quick jump ball earlier for Houston
Meh, I think Houston had possession arrow anyways.
Also, how many times is Sharp going to try to get a flagrant call this game?
You can't get into a player's cylinder and then cry when you catch an elbow because the dude can't move without hitting you.

Houston is my pick to win the whole thing.

Our shot at a 1 has passed. That doesn’t take away from a great year though. Time to move on and get ready to kick butt as a 2 seed.
Wasn't referring to our chances at a 1 seed. That ship sailed a while ago. Pretty clear Florida will grab the final 1 seed. After today, Bama will jump us in the 2 seed category. Depending on how we perform in the SECT, we might end up as the third or fourth 2 seed in the NCAAT.

I’m saving this post so I can reference it when we get the top #2 seed.

Houston under Sampson is the same every year. A grind it out team that plays great defense and just scores enough to win. Houston never looks impressive, they just win.
