Coming after Vitello

This is from someone who would know, posted elsewhere:

White went to him through his representation early this weekend and told him UT has granted full approval for $35M in LNS upgrades (which is almost fully pledged by 5 donors), a 7 figure salary for Vitello and a huge increase in staff salaries.

Tennessee has not heard back yet from him at this point.
Heard way more than 5 donors offered to pony up but either way wheels are in motion behind the scenes

Thoughts on swapping LNS with Tom Black Track, bulldozing HYPR, and tennis courts?

I think its best long term win possible. N campus, more room, flat.

That's big. In a perfect world.. (I know) they'd announce it before the tournament started. At the very least it's promising to hear they're prepared to go all in with regards to commitments to keep him here long term. Hoping like hell this is where he wants to be

HYPR definitely needs to go; can we not find a way to teach PE classes in T-Rex? Having two sets of gyms, weight rooms and indoor pools is killing space, regardless if we need it for LNS or not.

3HL 5-28-21 Hour Two: What does Tennessee need to do to keep Tony Vitello

I saw Chris Low's recent interview with 3HL (104.5 The Zone in Nashville) referenced in yesterday's game day thread, so thought I'd put it here too. The link to his interview is above. I couldn't direct link it, but the segment is fairly high up on the interview segment page.

You can listen to his interview in its entirety, but the main takeaways:

*Tennessee is seriously working on a new deal and package to keep CV.
*Tennessee will not lose CV because of money - Chris thinks they are willing to step up and make CV if not the highest paid college baseball coach, one of the highest paid college baseball coaches in the country.
*Tennessee is making a firm commitment to LNS upgrades (press box, entrance, basically everything) to make it more representative of baseball stadiums in the SEC.
*Chris also mentioned salary increases for CV's staff.
*Tennessee is doing everything it can to have CV stay here.
*CV loves it here in Knoxville.

Chris is about as well connected and trusted locally as any reporter. After listening to his interview, I'm confident that Tennessee is going all out for this new package and deal for CV.

I bet Y9 was approached but told DW to pound sand. Told him to come back and see him after TV’s made it to Omaha 4 consecutive years and we’ve sold out every G5 midweek game in February, then they’d talk about his money.

Chris Low is a great reporter. Hearing this from him has me a little less concerned. I’m glad to hear we seem to be making an effort to commit to baseball. This has been a fun season. I want this to keep happening. I like fun.

HYPR is one of those building projects that were plagued with the limestone cave issue. I understand that's why the racquetball courts are in lowest levels as they occupy the former cave space. The new intercollegiate pool was built when all the water flushed out like a toilet. Thompson-Boling took several more years to build because of the caverns. I wonder if tearing down HYPR and Tom Black would bring those problems to light again.

Yes, I agree about Chris, and feel the same way after listening to his interview. It's good to know that we are being aggressive and seem to be making a firm commitment to the baseball program. Let's let the fun continue on. This season has been a blast!

I’ve been saying this for weeks here and it’s the reason why Danny White doesn’t need to measured with this outcome.

it not going to be about $. Everyone needs to understand this

Agree, we just wanted the commitment to be there and whatever CTV decides he decides…..Sounds like the commitment is there and that’s all UT can do.

I don't think it's cost effective to tear things down only to have to rebuild them somewhere else UNLESS they are at or near the end. of their useful life. If we're gonna do that, then fraternities should be relocated to make room as those buildings are now about 60 years old, and low density housing in that location makes no sense. You could rebuild fraternity park in the Lake Drive area, which is now ripe for urban renewal, and has traditionally been a low density housing area.

Yes, I would let those sleeping dogs lie.

“But more importantly, we got to see what we could do against I mean, guys like Sims, Kops, again, I could say a bunch of other names, and then compete against a Florida team that was on a pretty dang good run with what they've done and what they're capable of. I could go on and on. So there's an assortment of things that will help us for next weekend, and the program beyond." CTV, postgame interview Sunday.

I did get the call...stay toned.
