Community

Last weeks episode was probably the most Community episode of Community ever.

It was very esoteric and could pretty much be summed up by the dean saying "I think I've gone too far."

Last nights homage to Law and Order was pitch perfect right down to the twist at the end. Also Michael K Williams recalling Omar was a highlight for me.

I thought it was good, but realized the whole way through that the average TV viewer would hate it. And I now understand why community is unsuccessful.

The show is successful for what it is trying to do. It just appeals to a small demo.

It's on the wrong channel then. I like what I've seen. It's a good show. But I don't think it's cut out for prime time. It's missing something.....oh! I know. A laugh track.

You are aware that shows use a laugh track to cover up for things that arent funny right?

Yep. I'm glad the laugh track is all but dead in today's sitcoms.

Sadly, though, it's not. Off the top of my head, big bang theory and how I met your mother use it for sure. I think a lot of others still use it, but I can't name any others without watching them.

Let me correct that then. They're all but dead in most of the sitcoms that I watch. I watch Big Bang but don't really notice the laugh track.

"How 'one arm' was he? Tell me when to stop."

"It was the other arm."

Don't know why, but that made me lol.

Has anybody heard anything concrete as to whether this show is getting cancelled or renewed yet? While we're on it, what about Parks and Rec, 30 Rock and The Office. I have yet to see anything definitive on the future of any of the shows.

According to this highly scientific smiley face chart, Parks & Rec and The Office are certain to be renewed. Community and 30 Rock are also favorable to be renewed. Sadly for me though, it looks like Awake is all but done. :cray:

30 Rock gets poor ratings? WTF? 30 Rock is awesome, and I thought it was very popular. I apparently don't understand American television. We apparently only like bad to mediocre television.

Everybody watches Pawn Stars and Deadliest Catch, but legitimately funny television shows are ignored by the masses.

I know, it's sad that ratings are dominated by reality shows, most of which are complete garbage. I'm afraid sitcoms and like shows as we know them are going to die soon.

Yes, I was shocked to see that as bad as The Office has been this season, it's still the highest rated of the 4 NBC Thursday comedies, and it's by far my least favorite of the 4. Plus I even enjoyed Up All Night more than it this year. So it will most definitely be back, even though I think it's the only one that should end.

I can't believe Whitney is going to be renewed though, that's seriously one of the worst shows I've seen in a long time. I gave it 3 episodes and I didn't laugh once at anything on that show.

Man this telling from that article:

"NBC's ratings devastation has reached the point that the three headlined shows are likely to be renewed, even though they have averaged less than a 1.6 adults 18-49 rating in their new episodes since January 1. The cancellation bear can't believe it.

To put that in perspective, How To Be A Gentleman was pulled from the CBS schedule last Fall after two episodes that averaged a 2.6 rating, which is better than all NBC scripted shows have done since January 1 (and better than all but The Office last Fall)."

Surely that's not true. That show is garbage. Maybe the actors are working for free so that the show turns a profit.

O wow, Smash is getting renewed??? Its an AWESOME show, but last I heard it wasn't doing so well in the ratings.

Its like Glee with sex and adult drama.

It's pathetic that Smash and Whitney are likely to get renewed. More proof that NBC is in the crapper.
