Completely disgusted

Tell him that WHEN Bama returns to the Dubose/Fran/Shula type days, he can keep wearing his Bama gear. And trust me, that day is coming. Saban will retire, then the NCAA will come a knocking once again, and they will be back to sub .500 seasons mixed in with the occasional 9-10 win season every once in awhile.

That's THE WORST thing in sports anyone could do. He wasn't ever a TRUE Vol fan anyway if he now likes the red turd.

That says a lot about a person.
If they can't even be loyal to a sports team, chances are they aren't loyal to much of anything else in life...

Walked into Walmart yesterday. A huge section of Alabama stuff. Looked around, no Tennessee section. Kept walking around the store and every few aisles there were little knick knacks of Alabama stuff. Why I understand from a marketing stand point but really? A Walmart in Tennessee and you can only find a simple hat and a backpack with Tennessee on it. Walmart hates us...

I work at a Walmart in swva, and needless to say we have way more vt and uk stuff than UT. There was, however, UT flags hanging at the end of every aisle from chemicals to electronics for the longest time.

My favorite question to ask a person wearing Bama gear is, "Do you know the name of you offensive coordinator, the name of one of your OL players or your men's basketball head coach?" I typically get a blank stare and "no" to which I say..."well lets face it, you aren't really a Bama fan".

I live 5 miles from where Johnny Majors played HS Football and 5 Miles from where Phillip played HS Football..... close to Tn/bama line. I hate to see these butt heads wearing the crimson when they are winning and Orange when we are winning. I always tell them you were born and raised in Tennessee and if bama is your team then Move. Because there is land For Sale in bama and I will gladely give you a free weekend (use of truck included) to help move your butt out of my Great State of Tennessee.

You must be from either Huntland or Belvidere. My mom and stepdad live in the Flintville/Elora area, I know how it is down there lol.

I have lived in Bama since 1997. Have many tide friends and an FSU wife who has warmed to the vols over time since 1999. My friends respect me more for never faltering on my alma mater and always sporting my orange. Some have even come to my defense as if I have needed it after all of these years. This also has instilled strong character in both of my children (daughter 10 and son 8) who love the vols and love going to games to be immersed in orange instead of crimson. People who can flip at a whim just don't understand the meaning of being a volunteer, plain and simple.

Ther will be some orange on my gravestone, mark it down.

I have always viewed bandwagon fans with great suspicion. If they are fair weather fans, they may also be prone to being fair weather friends.

That is true even of the Tennessee Sports Fan, a niche store that started out exclusively as specialists in Tennessee paraphernalia. They should rename themselves as Southeastern Sports Fan because Tennessee merchandise now constitutes a small minority of their overall product line.

Saw a guy that I went to school with some years ago and back then he was a Vol fan but when I saw him this time he had on an Alabama hat and shirt. Needless to say I really had nothing to talk to him about so I turned and went the other way. There is nothing that disgusts me more than a bandwagon fan, especially a Tennessee "fan" that would start cheering for the Tide.

Not sure if talked about since I didnt read all 8 pages of the thread, but is it possible that the guy went to Alabama? Becoming an alum can trump childhood allegiance in some cases.

I doubt a good chunk of Vol fans could not have answered those questions in the 90s either. Most of them knew Fulmer and Manning and that was probably about it.

Sad but true.

There was a time that, besides the bookstore, the Tennessee Sports Fan was the best there was.

I know a girl that was all about UT. Her dad is a huge UT fan

She married a Florida fan and is all about the Gators now

I just don't get it. Change husbands not teams

You know it works both ways, right? I married a Tennessee girl and now I cheer for the Vols. Although in my defense I always had a respect for Tennessee but if not for my wife I don't think I would make a point to watch their games and wear their gear.

The truth about it is, 80% of fans are like this.

When Tennessee is back on top, you will have fans come from the woodwork, that's just how it is.

Honestly I don't have a problem with it.

Frankly I don't see how it is satisfying to just go for the team that wins every time.

It's like flipping a coin and calling it after it hits the table.

Stupid analogy but that is what I compare it to.

80%?
