Confident USU Fans (blue cool-aid)

cool straw man. That's exactly what I said. EXACTLY what my point was. Yeah, me saying "our QB is better now than 4 years ago. Our WRs are deeper than they were 4 years ago" was actually meant to be read as "your SOS is worse than USU's"

Okay, brah. I didn't read all of your posts. My point is that every mid-major we play has fans come on here and cannot see any way that we could be a good football team because of our previous records.

And then we win and never hear from them again. You may or may not fit the stereotype, but the stereotype exists for a reason.

The disconnect is on the definition of "neutral" or objective. You are saying they are neutral because they are dispassionate. Which they are.

The rest of us are talking about "neutral" in the sense of objectively seeking to predict the outcome of the game. That isn't their objective. Their objective is to make money so they aren't really "neutral" concerning the score... their bias on predicting the score isn't for UT or for USU... But it isn't "for" truth either... it is "for" making money.

You lost me...:loco:

I agree their objective is making money. The ONLY way to guarantee they make money is to have a 50/50 split between 2 teams.

I'm unsure what point you and the other poster are trying to make.

Vegas sets an initial line based on their various models, etc. UT started out as a 7 point favorite, it has since moved to UT -6.5. That's not a ton of movement but the early money went slightly on USU. The line is holding pretty steady so far, but you would expect it to as we're still 2 weeks away. If the line is holding steady that means that money is coming in evenly on both sides.

Where or how are they being biased? I'm honestly asking because I'm not wrapping my brain around what you guys are talking about.

giving you facts. you choose not to take them into consideration.

add more facts. sacked 8 times, with our 2nd/3rd string QB in, backup RB, in a single game by the 6th best team for getting sacks. we knew it would happen going into the game and it did.

why don't you tell me what that defense with the sacks was ranked in the stat for sacks on the season? then tell me what tennessee was ranked in sacks

they were rated very highly but also like 90th in total d. Lets not pretend like they were very good. they gave up about 60 to Rutgers and SJSU. If it wasnt for a pick 6 that defense would have held you to 10 points or so.

If you read my posts, you'd see that I haven't called for USU to win this game even once. I think UT will. I just think you're all being unrealistic about how good USU is.

they were bad in the stats for total D but they play a lot of downs because of their offense. They're much better on yards/play (still not great). they were a powerhouse on offense. 1 game away from the BCS.

and again, we had an 18 year old QB who started out third string, who then got knocked out of the game with a concussion. that one game isn't indicative of the year, especially with a mobile QB like CK.

Cool story. guess nobody can play nickel against your awesome power. go buy your natty tickets now.

and a career day? what is that, 200 yards? congrats on that. he could throw for 210 yards, 2 tds and 3 picks and it'd be the best game of his career.

It worked so well against BYU didn't it? lol

"They hook up again!"

"Another long pass and catch!"

"The longest pass of his career!"

(Yes. That's what the announcer said.)

A lot of us are saying it's gonna be close some say blowout so why keep arguing bout it I know you're defending your team but we've heard this same song and dance before.. That's all..

Haha, funny guy right here.

I see that chip on your shoulder. I'm sure your team has had some success with that against others. Problem with that is, our guys probably have a much bigger chip and they won't be taking you lightly.

I'm done with this tread...come back and chat on Sept. 1

UTs offense had a freshman QB too half the year. Playing the best teams in the country but you still judge UT. whats the difference?

you're really going to pick one game and use that as the rule? we played two QBs who were drafted last year (one taken way before the first SEC qb) and they didn't have career days. but yeah, pick one guy from the last 3 seasons who did.

If we were in person, I'd speak slower. Maybe I'd write it down so you could follow along, but that apparently wouldn't work. I'll space it out.

I

have not

been making any

value judgment

on how good

tennessee is or

is not.

the other guy

brought up sacks by fresno

and i explained

why it happened the way

that it did.

i did not say

tennessee would have

done worse.

i did not compare

how tennessee did

regarding sacks.

all i did

was point out

that it was one game

against a team

that had a lot of sacks

all year.

and with that, I'm out for good. too frustrating to try to have any semblance of a real conversation with this fan base. i'm sure the stadium will be full and loud. i'm sure it'll be a great tailgating environment. i'm also sure you're the least hospitable fans I've come across from any big team we have played in the last 10 years.

I'm not. I'm going to the game and thoroughly expect USU to be a great test. I just think it is a silly thought to think that UT will be shell-shocked or unprepared for a particular talent.

Free advice: Don't be so condescending and people will tend to be more welcoming.

I've come to let all you UT hicks know how great our Aggies are, and advise you to be scared. Oh, and why are you so unwelcoming? - Ficklez

Funniest thread I have read in a long time. Basically, a Utah State fan has come on here and tried to rationally discuss the upcoming football game between his favorite team and our favorite team.

And, because he won't admit that Utah State will be intimidated by the size of the crowd (said they have played in big stadiums), won't wilt in the smothering humidity (said they have played in the South before), won't be intimidated by a BCS school (said they have played several teams better than UT in the past 3-5 years and haven't been blown out), and he won't admit that Utah State is another WKy and/or Austin Peay, y'all lost your minds.

From what I have read, ficklez has basically said, Utah State is a solid mid major program who has played on the road against several legit D1 programs in the past and looks forward to coming to Knoxville and playing Tennessee. He thinks Tennessee will win but that the Aggies will be a very good opponent for the Vols.

Most have responded with "SEC", "Vols have much more talent", "Blowout", "too much speed", and "you have multiple wives." Amazingly, ficklez has kept his cool with the exception of a few posts.

Very entertaining thread. This game will be very entertaining too and the Vols will have to be on top of their game to get the W. They should win but I sure don't want to see Keeton get the ball at the end of the game with a chance to win.

Vols by 7-10 pts.

I think Tennessee will beat Utah State 89-0, but we will lose a defensive showdown with Chattanooga (6-4--all points scored on safeties).

You nailed it. I never saw where he said USU will win, either.

It's almost time. We'll finally get to see if the hype is real!! It's gonna be crazy when those Vols line up in the tunnel and the Pride of the Southland band parts and they come running through that T ,and it will once again be Football Time in Tennessee
