Confident USU Fans (blue cool-aid)

So you have a few moral victories, congrats. But how many of those players do you still have on the current roster. Also, imagine competing against Fl, Ga, Alabama, then (BYU/USC). Your schedule is pitiful.

Start QB, RB, 2 WRs, 1 OL, 4 D-linemen (both starting DEs, top 2 NGs), 2 starting LBs (a 3rd started the end of last season), FS, one CB

We are also MUCH deeper than the past 3 seasons, as we work our way from a dumpster fire program (pre 2010) to where we are now. We may have had some good starters graduate the past 3 years, but the depth behind them has improved significantly.

Our biggest potential weakness is at DB. I don't have faith that your QBs can exploit it, which is why I think the game will be close.

Your fanbase should pool it's money, send someone to Vegas, and lay it all on the game. 7 points is all you have to win by, and you can double your net worth!

Like I'm gonna give some random internet dude my money.. Never mind great idea send me your money and I'll book that trip to Vegas!

I'd never even heard of Utah State until I saw them on our schedule. You're going to lose by 35+ points. I'm sorry, we're just not the same. Now, go back to your own forum. That is, if your team has one.

No don't be that guy.. He's welcomed over here! You can't take a little banter. If we can put up with Gators, Dawgs, Bammer and whoever else, this dude should post all he wants. Welcome to VolNation Utah St.!

Nope.

My point is, I don't know why Tenn would all of a sudden kill us, when none of those others have. Just a legitimate question as to why it would occur now.

Because this happens every year. Every year we "kill" a team from a low conference that thinks because we lose to the toughest teams in the country, we will lose to anyone. Last year W. KY and their future NFL RB and SEC head coach were saying what you're saying now, we killed them.

An NC State team with a future NFL QB, which upset a would-be National Championship bound FSU was saying what you're saying, we killed them.

A loaded 11-win Cincinnati team was saying what you're saying, we killed them.

Sorry to disappoint, but losing to #6, #1, #2, #4, #5, and beating #10 in the country (rankings at the time we played them) doesn't make us a bad team. We are big. We are strong. We are fast, and we are talented. All of these are magnified when compared to teams like Utah State. No offense, y'all are very good for your level of play, but the SEC is NFLjr.

But I'm digressing. This is not about you and what you've done it's about us and what we've done to teams like you. So how about you tell me why all of a sudden you will be so much different than the others that came up against us with the same mindset you have?

Just come back after the game. Simple as that. And to answer why the vols will beat Utah state by at least 10, here's my take.
1- your secondary is a huge weakness and we are going to expose it. Say whatever you want about our qb, there will be too much for the Aggie d to handle.
2- gashing your d through the air will open up our rushing attack. The vols will go over 100 yards.
3- night game in neyland, it will be nuts.
4- this will be keetons first actual game action since his injury. He will not be the same. Likewise for your RB too, correct?
5- we are far more talented.
Vols win, bank on it.

Absolutely not. It's an SEC team (not named Kentucky or Vanderbilt), at home, against Utah State. I think the game is close to a toss up (as seen by the odds, I think it's technically 60/40 based on them), but the bookmakers expect the public to bet on Tenn so I think the odds are even a bit inflated.

Auburn were something like 28 or 30 point favorites in 2011 against us, returning almost no one from the year before.

I truly hope you don't believe that... For your own good, DON'T BET.

Can I make a friendly board bet?

If USU wins, I want a promise from the Moderators of this message board that this thread will not be locked.

If Tenn wins, I will donate 20 dollars to your alumni/athletic fund.

Deal?

keep your check book handy

Wow!

You are my new hero.

Even if we do lose it won't be that embarrassing.

We can't get much lower than we currently are at this point.

Chatt just told you to suck it.

1. Our secondary is a weakness, but not a huge one. We have had 4 DB's the past 4 years drafted in the first 4 rounds. Some of you might say that proves we will be worse off now, but I could also say that it might prove we are pretty good at producing good DBs.

We have 2 on our team (not named Daniel Gray) who are getting a ton of praise so far in camp. One is a Senior who has played behind said NFL DBs (both of our starting DBs the past 2 seasons are in the NFL, 2 were drafted) and is finally getting his chance to start in Rashard Stewart. Many think he is the next Aggie DB to be drafted with his performance last year and in Spring/Fall camp. The other is RS Soph Devin Centers (son of HOFer Larry Centers) who is tearing up camp. He might end up starting at SS, but coming into camp he was penciled in at Nickel back.

We also have a 2 year starter at FS in Brian Suite. Another guy who should be drafted next Spring, he had 77 tackles, 5 INT (2 against Derek Carr, who was drafted 36th overall this past Spring), and 7 PD.

We have some question marks, but I don't think any QB on the Tenn roster will be able to "gash us through the air"

2. I'd be fine with the Vols rushing for 101 total yards (on 30+ carries :) )

3. Yep, I'll be there and can't wait! The USC game last year was fun, but their crowd stinks. The Wisc game the year before was amazing, 85k rocking, they love their football up there too.

4. Correct on both accounts. I had the same worries about Keeton, but he has looked 100% and back to his old self so far in camp and in scrimmage. It's certainly different from an actual game, but the fact that he is out there running, juking, hopping, and throwing better than ever is at least a good sign. Our RB has looked similarly good (there was some worry about him limping a few days ago, but he looked quick and took quite a few hits in our first scrimmage and looked 100% running for 70 yards).

5. I disagree. I think you guys have some promising players for sure (certainly at WR and RB), but overall I like our talent quite a bit. Will be fun to see how it stacks up against Tenn's 4 and 5 star guys.

Usu is going to be a tough game. If we had a half way descent QB this gm would not even be close. I hate to say this but if our QBs play the way they did last yr it might be a very long day in Neyland. I hope like hell im wrong but im just being realistic.

UTC fans?? You're crazy. I'm a UTC grad and fan and I KNOW that UT is gonna destroy UTC. UTC is much better now than they've been in past years, but there's NO WAY they come close to a win against TN. No way. I've not heard ONE fan of UTC say that they think they have a chance to pull an upset. That's just laughable.
That's cause fans in Tennessee aren't all crazy and mushroomed out like them loonies in Utah.
