Cooper is a Lady Gamecock

I just heard about Cooper's new team. It makes one wonder if Dawn is not handing out welcome mats like the dude at Ohio State. I hate losing Cooper, because she has a lot of potential.

I know a lot of us buy into the ideology that Cooper left the Lady Vols because of the guards we have coming in next year, however, we have to consider other ideologies. Cooper may feel that, because of Staly's coaching style she has a better chance of winning a ring. Not only have posters questioned Holly's coach style but so have other outside sources. All of this may have convinced her to seek a program which has proven final four and championship potential. A lot of young players are only interested in proven results and not pie in the sky.

I wish Cooper all the best, however, I feel that the Lady Vols have more final four potential, in the upcoming year, than the Lady Gamecocks. I love Cooper and wish she had stayed, however, this may prove to be less of a major loss. Westbrook has a lot of potential and at 6 foot tall, she is a point guard in a wing body. Cooper could live to regret her decision.GO LADY VOLS!!!!!!
I came on here this past year and asked how competitive people here thought the two teams would be. I was told that the Gamecocks were going to get their a$# handed to them by this team with DeShields and others. That we had our run and Tennessee was back and we weren't even going to be competitive without Mitchell....well...we see that we won the national championship....I am not trying to rub it in your face, I could have done that when we won. I am just saying that Staley is a great coach and to imply that you are more of a final four team than us is just guess work at this point. You could be right...but the season's have to play out. Don't discount Staley...they did that when Coates went down.

I love Dawn and I'm happy she won one, and I know a championship is a championship and you can't help who you played but let's be honest here.....you all would have gotten your ass handed to you if it were UCONN you were playing in that game.

IMO

If, ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a merry Christmas.

Let's truly be honest. You don't know that, because nobody saw them losing to Mississippi State. Just like nobody saw Tennessee beating either team.

Back to Cooper and her transfer. I said in a post a couple months ago that with everybody pretty much coming back, and with the recruiting class you guys have signed, that the only thing would occur is attrition. Cooper has left, Middleton has left. When everyone else goes pro, you may be in a world of trouble.

Attrition wouldn't have occurred if the situation wouldn't have happened though, so your post a couple of months back is only relevant due to an unfortunate circumstance. Nobody was planning on leaving even with the class we had signed.

Middleton hadn't planned on leaving before Cooper?

Anyway, I didnt come over just to be irritating. I hope your program is successful, and for CHW's sake I hope it's soon.

TBH we would've matched up much better with UCONN the second time around after Coates went down. She was a big liability on defense in storrs because she couldn't defend Williams or Collier. In a second matchup It would have been Cuevas-Moore vs Chong, Nurse vs Harris, Davis vs Samuelson, Gray vs Williams, and Collier vs Wilson. In the first matchup UCONNs guards struggled and with the way Gray, Davis, and Wilson were playing in the tourney I think we would have beaten them

The only odd transfers have been Imovbioh from UVA, and Alexis Jennings from UK, who I don't know about the histories between those players and USC's coaching staff. I do know that Imovbioh was looking to transfer as a graduate transfer to begin with, and it was she who initiated talks with Coach Staley and her staff. Perhaps there was a UVA connection there, I dunno. I have no info on Jennings, but know that Staley doesn't like Mitchell all that much so perhaps she took Jennings just to rub his nose in it LOL....

But Staley heavily recruited both Davis and Gray out of GA when they were prep players. Gray was a silent commit to USC per Staley's own words until she was persuaded by DeShields to join her at UNC. Cooper's older sister was a commit and signed with USC but her grades wasn't good enough to allow for admission. Staley knew the Cooper girl's family very well as well as their AAU coach, and has a VERY long history with them. Te'a had USC 2nd behind UT during her recruitment.

There's really no big conspiracy involved here: most of the players transferring to USC already had extensive histories with USC's coaching staff as high school players, and USC is the defending national champion...

I'm surprised to be honest. I thought she would land with a team that was actually in need of a starting point guard.

I don't get these people who are fans of other teams visiting this board. I have no desire to read, much less post on a forum of a team that I do not support.

I think it can be positive to interact with fans of different programs. The problem is there isn't a good forum for WCBB in general, so people flock to team boards that are fairly active, like here or the UConn board. If Tennessee was still good, it wouldn't be as annoying.

ESPN had a great board before. Too bad they killed it.

I think Coates going down was the best thing that could've happened to SC. The force the post/twin towers thing wasn't that strong. Teams just got one of them in foul trouble. Then it was like the offense didn't know what to do.

No Coates allowed Davis & Gray to shine. Not sure that was coaching prowess. Kinda stumbled into that, it appeared to me.

Congrats on the Natty. But, um, why are you here?

P.S., we beat you THE NATIONAL CHAMPION on your home floor. Oh, and we also beat THE NATIONAL RUNNER UP on their home floor. 2 of your 3 best players are gone. Might be why we think we got a good shot. Just guessing. Lol

And why in the world would she want to sit out yet another year? My money that she will only play at SC for one year.

Obviously she has moved on while you all are still have a month long thread about her.

TE'A is still posting on social media about TN and fellow players. Maybe she still wishes she'd hadn't screwed up and been given the option to leave.

I must've missed the positive interaction with the SC fans. Smh.
