Cooper is a Lady Gamecock

I just heard about Cooper's new team. It makes one wonder if Dawn is not handing out welcome mats like the dude at Ohio State. I hate losing Cooper, because she has a lot of potential.

I know a lot of us buy into the ideology that Cooper left the Lady Vols because of the guards we have coming in next year, however, we have to consider other ideologies. Cooper may feel that, because of Staly's coaching style she has a better chance of winning a ring. Not only have posters questioned Holly's coach style but so have other outside sources. All of this may have convinced her to seek a program which has proven final four and championship potential. A lot of young players are only interested in proven results and not pie in the sky.

I wish Cooper all the best, however, I feel that the Lady Vols have more final four potential, in the upcoming year, than the Lady Gamecocks. I love Cooper and wish she had stayed, however, this may prove to be less of a major loss. Westbrook has a lot of potential and at 6 foot tall, she is a point guard in a wing body. Cooper could live to regret her decision.GO LADY VOLS!!!!!!

Exactly what makes you think you all have more Final Four potential then SC? I was just wondering. I understand you all have talented players coming in as well as so good ones returning but can you elaborate as to how a team or coach who has never been beyond an elite 8 has more potential then a team and coach that has been twice in the last three year and won it all. I have the upmost respect for you vol fans but bashing Te'a because she has moved on seems a bit immature.

Lol your probably about to be tar and feathered ... LOL get it cuz you're gamecock lol hahaha but seriously they said Final Four Potential in talent...So relax! Te'a and administration seem to have wanted to move in different directions. I just hope two years off of basketball she will be the same player or better! You can practice but nothing like playing in games to get your rhythm. Good thing she should be fully healed! And our guards will be a year into the system and have a year of college ball under their belts. I think Annie Hayes quickness and Westbrooks size for yalls PG (can't remember her name) will be a battle for years to come with your back court. This year Y'all have Aja, the Kentucky transfer, Bianca, and your PG. we have Mercedes, Jaime (who can move back to the wing, diamond, and Green. Should be some good match ups when you come to TBA.

Uhh, have you forgotten the ideology that she was asked to leave because of her behavior off the court? There's a 30 page thread about that very thing.

Agree on Final 4 potential but it will never be realized with Holly warlick as the head coach.

Because teams change annually and therefore, so does their potential. We like the talent we have coming in... but most importantly, this is a Univ of Tennessee forum and we are Univ of Tennessee fans. If you have a problem with the opinions expressed here, then you might enjoy an SC forum a little more. :hi:

A small distinction: Te'a didn't just move on like choosing a more interesting TV show to watch. Te'a has been in trouble with the university or the team off and on for a year. I think she can be a terrific player, but she's seemed more interested in looking cute on "snappity chats" 😗 than doing her schoolwork or keeping herself out of trouble. And given the option by the University to earn her way back into good standing or depart, she chose the easiest way out. Not to mention she made a beeline to our biggest competitor. That stings a bit.

Let's hope she's on the road to being the player and young lady she could've been. And when we play her two seasons from now, I hope we shut her down. No bashing here. 😊

LOL AHH I see what you did there! But let's get to it.... honestly I think you all have a great team for next year. I just think our ladies will get it done, that lost really stuck in their head and I think they will be up for the challenge. Westbrook is very talented, I love Rennia's game, I haven't seen much of Hayes except McDAA and JBC games and I'm not a fan at all of Kushkituah. I was in attendance when Harris and Westbrook went head to head in the u19 trials and I think it's safe to say Harris got the better of her in that matchup. I still think Evina will thrive at Tennessee. Don't forget we also have Mikiah Herbert Harrigan, Doniyah Cliney, LeLe Grissett, Bianca Jackson, and LaDazhia Williams who will all play big minutes. Herbert Harrigan is poised to have a breakout sophomore season as she is steadily improving playing agaisnt Wilson and Jennings in practice. I can't wait for the matchup at TBA (I will be in attendance for that one).

I was optimistic for Cooper's outlook coming into this season but was pretty underwhelmed by her as a freshman. Didn't have the best decision making skills and was a mediocre scorer offensively, although she had bursts of quality play. I was hoping she'd develop into a strong point guard, but obviously if she does, it will not be a UT.

That being said, if the incoming freshmen are as good as advertised (which I'm hopeful for but I expect growing pains), then the loss of Cooper in the long haul will be minimal.

Cooper never screamed "team chemistry" to me, and based on reports, it's probably in the team's best interest to move on without her. If she goes to SC, I don't think she necessarily boosts them to a different level or is going to torch Tennessee down the road. She could develop into a very good PG under Dawn, she may not ever beat out their current starting PG and be a role player, she may tarnish team chemistry at the program. It remains to be seen, but I don't think her opting to go to SC has any real impact on Tennessee.

Also, props to Holly for handling this situation delicately and letting Cooper transfer where she pleases. I hate seeing bitter coaches/programs place restrictions on transfers. Let the kids transfer where they want to.

I agreed with u however, I would let ppl know why she left and to save incoming recruit.

Letting people know why she left won't save anything. Letting recruits know if they want to know is what matters and I'm sure the staff will tell recruits and their families the story if they ask or have concerns about the situation.

I mean for real. People losing their damn minds over it!

I think its funny how some of the posters are acting as if her leaving won't have any meaning to this season. When she committed they were all hail cooper. Expecting freshmen players to come in right away to fill the void of her and Middleton leaving is crazy. I hope they can but I don't see it. And I absolutely love who we're bringing in. But she is a big loss to the program. She will be a very good player for SC and dawn will make her better. It's Holly coaching and leadership is what I don't trust but as like every other season I am very optimistic and hope all goes well.

How do we know that last years record isn't indicative of her (Te'a) being on the team? Maybe this incident and when it occured alongside others things that lead to her dismissal (or transfer) from the university was part of the reason we performed the way we did.

She was a freshman when she last played and then spent last season rehabbing an injury. She (imo) would still be a freshman (getting herself back into game shape and etc.) the first half of the season. Could we have liked to not throw the freshman in so soon, sure but we don't have that luxury and there may be an adjustment period but there could also be a Destiny Slocum like performance that would make folk forget about Te'a and forget that Hayes or Westbrook are in fact freshman.
Now this is nothing but some good ole bs... 😂😂 I could say more abiut this post but I think I summed it up with my 1st sentence

Or you could actually explain why you think his post is B.S.

Where's the fun in that? Would take thinking and maybe even logic. Much easier to just dis a knowledgeable poster and hope to stir things up. I may not always agree with mlinds, but he has good posts and he does support the Ladys, so respect points to him.

Well what do you think we should do? Jump off a cliff? She's gone...and stayed in trouble pretty much the entire time she was there. It's neither here nor there now. I don't think people are acting like she wouldn't have made an impact - they are just accepting she's gone.

No, it's not. Cooper didn't play last season and Middleton is replaceable... She just is.

Middleton is very replaceable. I like her but she is slow and get beat on defense too much.

All of the guards seem to struggle on man defense.
They're not taught footwork and how to use their speed as a weapon,,,so their speed is not used as a weapon against them. Meme, Alexa, and coop were all easy to beat off the dribble. especially against a quick guard who could do a crossover well.... The crossover can be defended.

If SC land O. Nelson then I will begin to wonder about this whole episode. This saga gets scarier by the moment.
Cooper will have two years to play with Nelson and Dawn has a way
of turning problem players around.

No doubt, real scary.
