Cooper Mays possibly out for Florida

If you open the link you will see that This is a report on Basilios blog from someone else named Orange Throat.
However, Basilio has echoed the thought that Mays situation is worse than Heupel has let on.
im sure that mainstream reporters like AP and Hubbs and others know what the REAL STORY is with Mays.
But since they haven’t told the public, for whatever reason, we don’t know For sure.
Love Tony or hate him, he does have many sources in the UTAD since he has been covering the Vols for so long.
Of course, I and all Vol fans hope that Cooper heals as soon as possible. If not, Lane must step up.
How many times does he have to do things like this and be completely wrong before he's no longer taken serious? He's done it a lot.

I have no idea how bad it is. I thought about it soon after they reported he would have surgery and prepared myself for the distinct possibility that he wouldn't play ANY this year. But Basilio has gone off with drama like this enough that he should be ignored.

Agreed...and...didn't I hear AP let it slip in an exchange with Hubbs alluding to it being a "hernia deal"?

BTW...AP has been open and honest of his concern of the O-Line ALL Summer & Fall Camp.
That was rumored early on.

yeah, it's been the circulated rumor for a while now too, so I assume there is some truth to it. Sucks because it takes a while to heal and you can't do crap until it does.

FWIW Jojo said he believed in our OL and they have been getting it done during practice without Coop yesterday in his interview. So I am not panicking.

VN loves to panic though, so who am I to stop them?

He used to have sources. Most of them are gone. Fulmer or someone close to Fulmer seemed to feed him information way back when. Credible sources don't talk to him specifically because of the non-sense he engages in.

The thought that we can't get someone ready to play with this much time is just crazy. They will have at least 2 full games to get experience before Florida. The biggest concern will be if Cooper is healthy will he be ready to play at a high level.

More clickbait to feed the BVS of the LOtM. For some, they are not comfortable unless they have something to be uncomfortable about.

Are you saying that you would believe TB over AP, cuz that's all I was saying.

Personally, I will believe Coop is back when he practices the week before the game.
When it comes to injury information? Yes.

Heupel wants opponents to think a guy is just “1 week away” from playing. No reason to give out anything more.

There's also this little thing called the transfer portal. No excuses. Next man up.

So you're telling me we had absolutely no one else ready to go as backup to Cooper? Sorry but in year 3 that's not an excuse. Not in the era of the transfer portal. Next man up.

Never said he diesnt have someone to step up. But it’s like last year with Wright. If he went down would there have been someone to fill in his spot on the OL? Sure. Does that mean that person is gonna be as good as Weight? No. The next man up excuse doesn’t work for every position. Especially not one as important as center. You obviously don’t realize how important a center is.

Well tb literally said yesterday that Cooper would be back for Florida. The guy who said he wouldn’t is just some slapdick on his blog.

It’s not just getting someone ready to play. It could be argued that center is the second hardest position to play. We may not be able to play at the tempo we are used to without Cooper. If that’s the case then that hampers our offense.

Reputable insider here has also said if it doesn’t heal properly he could have to have a 2nd surgery.

At this point if you haven't resigned yourself to being pleasantly surprised if Mays plays at all then you've been foolish. He can't stay healthy. Sad but just a reality for whatever reason.

Like someone said, we're 3 years in and they should have multiple options to fill the spot. Yes it is a difficult position to play but they've had time. Several of those guys have had a lot of snaps. Some guys have another gear when their adrenaline starts pumping like Hooker did. One of the options... will step up and be just fine.

? The dude started every game last year.

If we can't beat Florida, let alone a top 20 team, without our center then we're not as good as we think we are. Last time I checked, Cooper was not being confused with Dave Rimington.

Heard this too.

It’s the fact that it’s even being floated out there after a minor surgery is significant. He said the follow up would be season ending surgery.
It 100% would, because of the added recovery time needed after two surgeries, anesthesia, etc. But that was floated almost immediately after the surgery, so I view that as more BVS than anything, imo.

If it is indeed hernia surgery, I would actually be impressed if he heals that fast. 4 weeks is not very long, but the mesh they use now is pretty cool and he is young, healthy, and strong, so if anyone can do it, its him.

This was something stoener posted this week (or late last?) iirc.

I would think Hernia surgery would be 1 and done (unless a hernia comes back way down the line).

He had surgery on August 9. I believe the expectation is minimum 4 weeks to heal enough to do heavy lifting and strenuous activities.

September 6 will be exactly 4 weeks from surgery, so we are still 2 weeks away/only half way there now.
