Could we be headed for global chaos? Significant fuel shortages? Severe food shortages?

Make sure you have a working generator to protect it.
I’ve been looking at a full standby generator. Cummins & Generac both have 30 kW options for around 10k.
Then it’s extra for the ATS.

How big did you get?

24KW I believe. It was the biggest air cooled unit they make. We had the power management system installed with it and our power bill has gone down quite a bit. Summer electric bill was usually around $250-$275 and last year our highest was about $230 give or take.

Edit: Also we got an extra 2 years of warranty and monitoring for going through the Generac website for a quote instead of going directly to a dealer.

Did you get the ATS?

What happened to alternative fuels?
If the gov. had not paid farmers to destroy crops last year, maybe there wouldn't be a food shortage. Paying people not to work didn't help things either. Also, Does anyone remember shortages while the pandemic was going on..??
TP comes to mind. And wasnt there something with plastics? Wood was scarce/extremely expensive

We always pay farmers not to grow/sell crops.

The shut downs carry a lot of blame even though the media will sell it on other more immediate concerns they can dangle out there.

In any compromise between food and poison, it is only death that can win. In any compromise between good and evil, it is only evil that can profit.

What about poison and poison? Because that is what we have

Or two sets of food, one side allergic to the first set, the other allergic to the second.

I would not call the side (however imperfect) that still supports the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, Parental Control of education, bodily autonomy, economic freedom, and Federalism „poison“. I am sorry that the remaining conservatives appear to have caused you such disillusionment

I was born just as he Cold War was beginning. As long as I've been alive we have bounced from one crisis to another. My liquor cabinet is well stocked. I'll see this one through too.
I was not around then, but IMO these issues we face today are nothing like those during the Cold War era, particularly the late 60s.

The country I think is more polarized and dysfunctional today than in the 90s, but not the 60s. The things we see today I think have been slowly building since about 2000.

Yeah in my books they dont do any of that. Trump is the biggest republican out there and he pushed through the worst gun control we have seen in a long time. Had multiple things struck down by the courts, spent money all over the place we didnt have.

Paul, Amash, etc, are about as close as it gets, and they get party purity checked at every turn.

People want to back winners, not actually stand up for what they believe in. That's why its poison.

I definitely get where you are coming from. I am just not ready to give up on them just yet. It is just up to us in the base to keep pestering them to do what they promised. They still need our votes, our energy, our volunteer efforts, and our donations. Just don’t let them forget who put them there and vote accordingly come primary day

And here in Alabama, we are actually RE-ELECTING our RINO Governor Kay Ivey even though she kept extending the mandates way past any reasonable end date. But hey, she puts out an ad holding a gun and criticizing Democrats and suddenly all is forgiven me she is a conservative in good standing again 🙄

That's exactly my issue with most modern day "republicans". It honestly seems like it's simply a game to them and they know all of the buttons to push to get their base fired up and fall in line to vote for them.

Yes, I don't think it was even an option. It was required (I think) and if it isn't required you should 100% get it. What if you're not home?
A 24kW probably did come with one. Some of the smaller standby ones you still have to go outside and turn it on without the additional switch.
