Country music thread

there are a lot of the newer songs that force me to agree.

I even think he's trying extremely hard to put a lot of southern twang into his voice and it sounds fake.

There was a song recently that was something like "and we rode in trucks". It was the dumbest most pointless song I had ever heard, until I heard John Rich's song about Detroit. Embarrassing for country music IMO.
The twang is over the top but I still like the song.

Luke Bryan sings the "we rode in trucks" song and I agree it sucks. His song "Do I" is pretty damn good though. He has a song call "Take my drunk ass home" and its a pretty good drinking song.

I personally hate these newer songs that bring out every rural cliche. They all follow the same embarrassing formula.

That crap started when Jerry McQuire left the theaters and Chesney came out with his you had me at hello song.

If you ever get a chance to see Jake Owen some where, go. He rocks on stage.

My thoughts exactly. I hate songs wherein the singer tries to make living in the country seem glorious. I've lived in the country for the past four years, after living in the city for my first 17 years, and can tell you that city living is much nicer.

They stole a page from hip-hop "this is my hood" etc. LOL It has truly been beaten into the ground.

Anyone give much of a listen to Jason Boland and the Stragglers? Comal County Blue is a solid album top to bottom.

Jason Boland and the Stragglers and any other Texas/RedDirt band is way better than anything out of Nashville these days.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned Ryan Bingham yet or not. May be classified by some as alt-country. Check out the song South Side of Heaven.

Justin Moore's Small Town USA is a damn good song.

I met Justin a few years ago in Nashville through a friend. After meeting him, I laugh when I hear Small Town USA. Something about an Abercrombie wearing, Ford Lightning (with rims) driving, spiked hair punk doesn't scream "country" to me. His accent is fake as hell also.

I mentioned him in some thread a while back, can't remember if it was this one or not, but he will probably start being talked about a little more after the Golden Globes.

Did he perform? I missed them... I'm listening to the Mescalito album right now.. By far my favorite album right now.

Didn't see them either but he and the co-writer, T Bone Burnett, won for Best Original Song for the theme to the movie Crazy Heart. Still love Mescalito but I've been listening to Roadhouse Sun more lately, can't really go wrong either way though.

Me & the wife just bought tickets for Jason Aldean & Luke Bryan in Terre Haute....should be a great show!

I've never seen either live, but have heard it is a must check out if I get a chance. Jason Aldean is one of the newer country artist I can listen to, as is Luke Bryan.

We saw Jason Aldean last year and he was awesome!!!

I'll tell you who is amazing on stage, Jake Owen. That kid is fantastic!

Absolutely, too bad that Pat went Trashville, he was a legend with his initial style. Now he's like a suckier Tim McGraw.

I love listening to Boland, Bleu, Adam Carroll, and the countless others. Hearing Pat Green now makes me want to cut myself, when thinking of how great he was on the Red Dirt/Austin circuit

Easton Corbin is a George Strait dead ringer, i assumed that his single was George for about a month before my wife told me otherwise.

SHREVEPORT, La. – Authorities in north Louisiana say two people in a pickup truck were killed when the truck ran head-on into a tour bus carrying members of country singer Trace Adkins' band.

Cindy Chadwick of the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office says five band members were treated for minor injuries in the Saturday morning accident.
Adkins was not on the bus. Chadwick says he drove to the scene after hearing about the accident.

The cause of the accident was not immediately known.

Chadwick says a witness had seen the pickup truck weaving in traffic. The truck crossed the center line of U.S. Highway 71 and ran into the bus around 9:30 a.m.
