Country music thread

Also just saw there’s a new Billy Joe Shaver tribute album... Very underwhelming line of artists. Of course there’s Willie Nelson, Ryan Bingham, and Niki Lane, but that’s about it. Would've liked to have seen Jinks, Childers, Jamey Johnson, etc.

Jinks would've done a killer version of “Honky-tonk Heroes like me” and Childers would have nailed “ragged ol truck”.

I'm a bit buzzed and have Spotify on the TV. Felker's "Bottom's Up" came on and the Catahoula parked her ass in front of the TV for the harmonica.

"Your daddy's gone to Kingston, betting on a rooster fight"

Willie is the Douglas MacArthur farewell speech of Outlaw Country. He deserves all his mic time despite being a shadow if who he was. The John Anderson tribute album is bad ass. They needed to put AA's Money in the Bank on it though.

Rodney Crowell
Miranda
George Strait
Amanda Shires
Margo Price
Steve Earle

I’m a music snob, but I definitely wouldn’t call that list “underwhelming”

As Hank III puts it
"So I'm here to put the d#@% in Dixie
and the "c*$#" back in country
'Cause the kind of country I hear now days
is a bunch of f*&%in' s#@* to me
They say that I'm ill-mannered
that I'm gonna self-destruct
But if you know what I'm thinkin'
you'll know that pop country really sucks"
You know, I still wonder why youre my best friend.

Fair. I guess my complaint is more so an odd selection. Amanda Shires isn't my first preference for who I'd want to cover Honkytonk Heroes.

"Somehow I wound up in the desert just after daylight, there the Joshua Tree grows, that little place you always liked. These pioneer town people ain't got too much to say, and if they might have seen you, they ain't givin' you away..."

Still hate I never saw Robison live.

“Well the every day, it gets in the way of all the things we could be. Don’t you understand I’m an honest man, but I’d steal you in a heartbeat if the choice was up to me…”

The question was asked awhile back, and this (along with 1968) is the current answer

“She reflects the world in happiness and echoes all the pain. Her smile's a world of sunrise and cries to make it rain. And she hides the truth discretely, but you'd have to take her word Aw she's every song I've ever heard”

Every girl is BJ’s dream writing. An incredibly upbeat song that’s actually an incredibly deep painful song. No wonder he’s such a fan/friend of the boys from Tahlequah

It’s not really hidden in The Funeral so much 😂😂
