Country music thread

I'm a way bigger jerk than Bill.

Lol, I don't know about in real life, but not on here you're not.

Does stirring a memory count as "moving" me? If so, Cruise by Fla Georgia line moves me. It takes me back to the first time I heard it. My girlfriend at the time liked all the new country stuff and she loved that song. Same with that Gwen Stafani song about BANANAS. I hated that chit the first time I heard it. Anyway, Had a some of the best times of my life with her.

She's gone now and what happened is personal.

I have both of those songs on my favorite Playlist for walking now because I love where they take me on my walks. But evidently it's all garbage to Bill because he says so.

Yeah, I hate that purple Barney song too, but there's a memory that gets stirred up in me that breaks me down and puts me on my knees.

I guess my point is, to me it's not really about the song as much as where the song takes me. One of my favorite Trisha Yearwood songs is The Song Remembers When. Lol, Bill probably gonna make fun of it too. But it also takes back to a special place that may be garbage to some, but it wasn't to me.

Blah blah blah.

And that's the thing, man. Music.is left to the listener. Me and Bill are grumpy bastards who prefer our country music differently than most. Dont know if its zodiac signs or randomness but I just don't do toe tapping generic Lowes soundtrack stuff. A lot of people do, which is probably why I'm at the Grey Eagle on Thursdays instead of the Orange Peel

David Allan Coe or GTFO!

Bill was Floyd Fest executed pretty well? I always get concerned about that with festivals not planned by Willy MF Braun
So I came away very impressed. The different stages are all separated enough that you aren’t in the way of others. You don’t even hear the other acts at the other stages.

Parking was relatively easy ($15 per day, but I think there was a discount if you bought for the week), getting my ticket scanned in was quick, and the shuttle service from parking to the festival was quick and easy.

Had plenty of food, refreshments, and souvenirs, gifts, etc. lots of beer offerings that seemed reasonably priced imo. You brought your own reusable bottle and they would fill it up. Water was free (bring your own bottle again). People were super friendly.

In retrospect, I wish I had been able to go more. I could’ve seen fish tank yet again (twice even), 49 Winchester (also twice), OCMS, and a few other acts, including Morgan Wade, who by everyone I spoke to, was absolutely amazing. I don’t think I’m in the mood to be camping in July, but some people did the Airbnb thing. Maybe find a place closer and do that.

Shootin stars in Oklahoma, they shine so bright, then they disappear…
Love that song. The JLW story of her sending it to Felker as something she was thrilled with and him saying to give him and hour and he'd finish it was great.

The story behind it from the book was awesome

Reckless is playing Cumberland Caverns in Sept the week before I go on vacation, its a Saturday afternoon and no beer so it may be doable as an out and back, otherwise I may just stay in Knox somewhere

There’s quite a few good ones. And Russell County Line is absolutely fantastic. I’m obviously geographically biased, but still
A coworker knows them from Castlewood, funny enough me and Bradley Barham talked about that in which he drives 60 mins each way to KPT because there's so little going up there.

Well the church bells are ringing down at old St Mary's, sign out front says 'repent and receive'
We still cut through the shallows and valleys,
Long time lovers and first time thieves

Night after Boland my we went to Departed. Better half was lusting for "Alabama" Cody. Had no real world view of him.

So he came out and said "My name's Cody and I'll be opening for The Departed tonight"...she couldnt comprehend that the 2007 rocker was the acoustic show

My Libertarian ass quoted Bill today, I said "I believe in a better South".
Only thing I need to change about that song is “I was born in the shade of a sugar maple, the proud Southern son of Tennessee.”

Everything else is the most eloquent expression of me and my decades long beliefs I’ve ever heard.

If I were to be given full control over country radio, and country music, this is what country would sound like.
