Justin Moore has one of the worst fake accents around.

He tries way too hard.

I'm a HUGE fan and voice of support for Jamey Johnson. The guy doesn't get enough credit, and maybe he doesn't necissarily want the spotlight. Classic example, he wrote the song "Just give it away", not many recognize that.

If you don't listen to alot of Jamey Johnson, he has some cd's out for $10 or Itunes. Good Stuff. . One of his newest favorites of mine is "Keepin up with the Jonesin" (featuring George Jones)

*random note: He sang a version of "Only God Knows Why" with Kid Rock. I'm hardly a KR fan, but JJ nailed it, there is a clear version with about 16k vewiers. I would post it but at work.

Dolly is so underrated JTrain. You are on to something. Big fan here.

I ran into Keith Urban one time at a Predators game, and he was the prettiest man I had ever seen..My friend, who was and still is worse for wear told him that, and believe me that is no compliment. What do I know?

I dream of Charlie Poole while drinking Hank Williams..

He also wrote Honky Tonk Badonkadonk, just saying.

Jamey Johnson is amazing. I get ticked when Lynyrd Skynyrd gets played on country airwaves, but Johnson's cover of "Four Walls of Raiford" is better than Johnny's attempts. I've heard covers of Waylon Jenning's songs and others as well. His original stuff is reminiscent of what country music is supposed to be. For all these whackjobs on here who spout Hank III as real country, they need to spend an hour listening to Jamey Johnson to truly understand what Hank III's grandpappy and his successors meant for country to be.

It baffles me that Dolly doesn't get the recognition she deserves for her spot in country music and music as a whole. Everyone remembers her giant boobs, but it baffles me that so many have forgotten about all of her great songs. "Jolene" is one my favorite songs of all time.

On a napkin in 10 minutes.

In an interview they asked him why he didn't record it.

He smiled and said "I don't want to be the guy that sung the butt song"

Yeah, I know the story, I was just posting in response to the other post about another song he wrote to his credit.

I actually don't dislike Johnson, I just think he's a bit overrated (especially as a song writer) by the crowd that say he's bringing back "traditional" country music. There are plenty of guys who are making the same type of music and, in my opinion, doing a better job of it but will never get the exposure Johnson does.

The irony being the fact that the exposure he's getting now is somewhat related to the fact that, as a songwriter, he used to be a part of the Nashville pop-country scene that he now seems to be juxtaposed against.

I like III but Jamey Johnson is the best going.

My favorite III song.

I still don't get this. Who decides who gets to dictate what is country? Why do people get so intent on categorizing music? That just creates limits, in my opinion. Wouldn't a true artist of their craft be able to respect another artist who felt similar passion to theirs? Even if different?

Artists are free to create whatever they want. Just don't try to pass off pop music as Country music and you won't hear a peep from me.

Yeah, but why does it matter what you call it? Music and the feeling it inspires in the performer and the listener doesn't need to be categorized, does it?

I guess I just don't get it.

because that's how music has been standardized for at least almost a century? Jazz is different than the blues, rock is different than jazz, pop is different than rock, country is different than pop, etc. I have no problems with artists making whatever type of music they want, just don't try to categorize it into a certain genre just to fit a marketing gimmick (ie, Hank III being country royalty). Kenny Rogers had success in both rock and country. The chicks from The Wreckers had success in pop and country, but at least when they came together for a country album, it was country. Music is categorized. Country music is defined by it's unique sound. Always has been, always will be.
