Country music thread

If your young, Luke Bryan & Blake Shelton will get you party rocking. If your older, Try Hank Williams. Can't go wrong with some ol' Alabama either.

VOLS Fan Card Suspended pending further investigation...:)

PS...I like them too...Roll on 18 wheeler Roll on

Hearing that Miranda Lambert was invited to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry tonight.

Country music has always tried to modernize it's sound somewhat through the decades. However there was a big shift in the musical direction of country music, starting I would say right around the time Mutt Lange (who produced AC/DC, Def Leppard, Foreigner, etc) produced Shania Twain's "Come On Over." From about that point on is when I'd say country basically became pop. I'm not saying there aren't still certain factions out there of artists still trying to stay true to the roots of the country sound but by and large, the stuff coming out of Nashville now is pop. It really isn't country anymore.

TCHFCATUTK posing with Kacey Musgraves. Lucky man. He looks a little flustered, but I would be too.

Last Wednesday I started playing Ashley Monroe's cd in my car. It's still playing in there. I have no desire to swap it out. Her voice is amazing and the cd is a great listen from start to finish.

so something happened to change my mind. My phone will occasionally randomly start Pandora (I'm sure it's something I'm somehow doing unknowingly). Anyways, "Much Too Young" came blaring out my phone and now I'm currently listening to Chris Ledoux. Not a bad switch if I do say so myself.

Can't go wrong with Chris. Easily the best live performances I've ever seen.

Saw this video the other day. It kind of speaks to me in regards to modern country music. Yeah, call me a set in my ways, out of touch old fart. But I just can't get into contemporary country music.

Those old country artists didn't just sing or play about it, they lived it!

Somebody who isn't retarded will need to embed it, just a mash up of pop factory country
Mind-Blowing SIX Song Country Mashup!: http://youtu.be/FY8SwIvxj8o

ah. Two different people posted that on my facebook wall this week for me. One guy tried to defend that the songs were slowed down or sped up to match. But they really aren't adjusted that much, if at all. Just shows where mainstream country music is. Even if you want to worry about the speeds and tempo of those six songs, the lyrical content is what is the most d***ing to country music imo.
