Country music thread

You will never convince me that the douchebags from FGL didn't sell their souls to the devil in return for cursing us with their garbage *** "music". Conway Twitty is rolling over in his grave because these idiots are considered "country".

Not really. It explains all his other likes. He clearly loves bro country and truly believes FGL, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton and Jason Aldean are throwbacks to Waylon, Merle, Willie and Johnny.

I hate Luke Bryan and Blake shelton,I hate the constant "bro-country" you hear on the radio but since I had a awesome time at a fgl show I can't say anything bad about them

Jason Isbell has a new release coming out on July 17

I've heard a few songs and it's, as expected, amazing. He says that the album as a whole is even better than Southeastern, which seems hard to believe.

I never know if a guy like Isbell falls into a Country music thread but if we're talking about him in here then I'd also like to bring up Tyler Childers.

I don't buy that artists like Isbell and Childers are "Americana". They are what country music was and still should be. Same for Sturgill Simpson

Yeah, and I've always thought the "Alt Country" label was bull**** too.

Yup. Radio country is pop and rock. The coined "alt country" is the closest thing to country I can find. I still listen to a lot of Texas Hill Country stuff personally

I'm sure it makes me sound like a hipster douchebag but I literally do not know anything that would come on "country" radio these days. Guys like Isbell, or Red Dirt guys from Texas or Childers from KY, or Matt Woods from right there in Knoxville. The fact that those guys scrape by while Jason Aldean (?) makes millions just boggles my effin mind.
