Cowherd was right and I am too

I font give a crap about that stuff! I saw with my own eyes last year that their team has slipped some. Their corners struggled, they had no rush ends, team speed a little off. If rivals ratings were to be believed nobody would have beaten them last year. Do I think we are a better team? No but as coach majors said, you only have to better on the day you play. We are going to get them. Sick of the doom and bloomers. We are going 7-5 and maybe 8-4. We are coming back!

I font either!

If we're good enough to beat Bama then why are you settling for 7-5 or 8-4?

Right now just hoping we can beat Utah State and Arkansas State. If we win those two then beat Oklahoma I will certainly start feeling what Cowherd said and this thread.

If Lane k could come within a blocked kick of beating them with that team, it goes to show anything is possible I guess.

I'm in the camp that butch gets four years to make us competitive in the east. He has a golden opportunity. Richt is very good, but not consistent of late. Spurrier had a horrible recruiting class and may start to slip. Florida may go thru what we have gone thru. They weren't a power until spurrier. Butch keeps bringing in the players, he may win 8 or 9 next year.

4? he needs 5 from the end of this season

Well, I'm not saying that I agree with BeattleFeathers, BUT...Google search the results of the Third Saturday in October and you'll see that if history repeats itself, a power shift can happen any year now. I understand that the logic is slightly flawed, but it does offer at least a little insight on how things could shift very soon.

Basically what I'm saying is...it COULD happen this year.

I think it would be best if TN focuses on Utah State first. Maybe it's just me but why in the world are we talking about Bama? Because CH said we would beat them? BF, I am trying to be nice but damn. Quit trying so hard.

Its one thing for some Kat on TV to make a bold prediction. If he gets lucky, he can tell everybody that he told you so. If it doesn't happen, nobody will remember.

Now typing that prediction and putting it in print on a forum isn't that easy... Sure we will see this again....

I'm in the camp that this is a five year rebuild at minimum. I would be thrilled with a big upset in Bama but I just don't see it

Beating bamer this year... would mean we tuned that proverbial corner. Would be the game to do it.

That corner is within sight... but not sold today that this is the game that get's it done.

Yes it is.

I'm so ready for that defeatist attitude to fade away.

Put your money where your mouth is instead of the moonshine. Bet on Tennessee. I'm sure the line will be at least 21, so there; you get 21 points to cover and you think they will win straight up. Good deal for you.

Stop making asinine predictions that make you feel fuzzy inside. That's the attitude that needs to go away.

Nothing wrong with being realistic and rooting for the team as it makes progress.

This power shift typically occurs around a significant coaching chage. Maybe that's coincidental, I don't know. We'll go back about 50 years which is a decent sample size.

Dickey was hired in 64. Bryant was already clearly entrenched at Bama. It took Dickey a couple of years but Dickey won his last 3 against Bama going 3-2-1 against the Tide while at UT.

Battle replaced Dickey and it didn't take long for Bama to start winning again after Battle took the 1st meeting.

UT won in 1982 under Majors which was Bryan't last season. Bryant was replaced by Ray Perkins which wasn't exactly a home-run hire and UT won 3 out 4 during Perkins' tenure.

The Tide took control of the series when Bill Curry took over. Curry was there for 3 years and handed it off to Gene Stallings and those two went unbeaten against UT between '87-'94 with the '93 game ending in a tie.

However, when Fulmer took over full-time in '93 the butt kickings to Bama were over. I mentioned the tie in '93 and there was a close loss in '94 where UT was clearly out-manned but kept it close. Fulmer proceeded to wear Bama out other than a bad game in '02 and one of the worst college games ever played in '05.

In 2007, Saban came to Tuscaloosa and we all know what has happened since he's been there. The average score has been 36-11 in that timeframe.

Is Butch the next coaching change to change the fortunes in this rivalry? I hope so.

there is nothing wrong with him rooting for his team with a crazy prediction either.

Who are you to tell him he cant?

this is sad.

you have forgotten what it means to be a fan.

This is just being a realist pal.. Once we get the same caliber players it's on.. I know we can upset a team like Bama but what's the % of that so the odds are in their favor...
