That's the only thing I can figure. How can you on one hand constantly trash our roster and caution that at least half of the young players that we'll desperately count on this year will never amount to anything..... and then on the other hand say that that same roster of players will beat a top 5 team that will likely be favored in Neyland by 3 tds?

I used to listen to Cowhered until a few years ago when he became too obnoxious.

He made a comment on the radio that I remember until this very day. He basically said he was given some advice that it is always better to be wrong in the radio business, he said the ratings always do better when you are wrong. People will call in and take a dump on your prediction and a whole bunch of people will want to tune in to listen.

Now, who knows if he is poking at the Bama fan base because you know they believe they will go undefeated every year. Anything is possible but Colin is a very smart dude.

He's just riling up the Bama fan base as he knows how easy that is to do. In the entertainment business if you have 5 listeners that love you and 5 listeners that hate you they don't equal 0 they equal 10 listeners. Here's a classic from last Dec. The call starts about 1:30 in.

If half don't make it, that still means 18 will! What's that got to do with anything? We are due to play well enough to win. Nobody and I mean nobody knows who will turn the ball over, the great equalizer in football. We beat Carolina last year and had n business beating a far superior team. Our youngsters will be coming of age. We are going to beat these rednecks!

Remember when Stanford was a 40 point dog to USC and shocked the world? What happened to throw the record books out when the tide and vols tangle? You guys are waaaaaaaaaaay too hung up on recruiting ratings. Turnovers are more important.:good!:

There's no one on UT's roster who's been able to stay within 30 points of Alabama. Maybe they should be due to keep it competitive before they are due to win.

Actually, the UT-Bama series hasn't historically featured a bunch of upsets. The whole "throw the record book out" doesn't really apply.

Dickey was hired in 64. Bryant was already clearly entrenched at Bama. It took Dickey a couple of years but Dickey won his last 3 against Bama going 3-2-1 against the Tide while at UT.

Battle replaced Dickey and it didn't take long for Bama to start winning again after Battle took the 1st meeting.

UT won in 1982 under Majors which was Bryan't last season. Bryant was replaced by Ray Perkins which wasn't exactly a home-run hire and UT won 3 out 4 during Perkins' tenure.

The Tide took control of the series when Bill Curry took over. Curry was there for 3 years and handed it off to Gene Stallings and those two went unbeaten against UT between '87-'94 with the '93 game ending in a tie.

However, when Fulmer took over full-time in '93 the butt kickings to Bama were over. I mentioned the tie in '93 and there was a close loss in '94 where UT was clearly out-manned but kept it close. Fulmer proceeded to wear Bama out other than a bad game in '02 and one of the worst college games ever played in '05.

In 2007, Saban came to Tuscaloosa and we all know what has happened since he's been there. The average score has been 36-11 in that timeframe.

Is Butch the next coaching change to change the fortunes in this rivalry? I hope so.

You have no qb, oline fair, no rush ends, suspect corners, overall d speed is slower. You are going down Bama dude. Nick has won his last title. Hired a dumbass for an offensive coach. Ask al Davis! Actually, it means quite a lot. It means that, up to now, there has been a massive gap between Alabama and UT. A bigger gap than there has ever been in this rivalry.

As for your take on the recruiting rankings: they are not gospel, but they generally play themselves out prettt well.
