I drive in to work at 5:30AM - see scores of runners out. Usually the coolest part of the day.

The area she was running in would not at all be considered dangerous.

WRONG. Any street in Memphis at night is dangerous as this just proved. I would NEVER allow my wife or daughter to run alone at night in Memphis. Would not happen. Wouldn’t allow them to run in many areas in the daytime either. Sad to say but it was a bad error in judgement on her part.

It is not victim shaming when you point out a bad decision that contributed to her death. If she had not been running alone at night in a dangerous city, she would still be alive. Period. It will be a travesty if Mulroy capitulates to anything but the death penalty and it will be sad that Abston will sit on death row for 20 years before he takes a dirt nap. Contrary to public opinion, most of the crime in Memphis is concentrated in certain areas and is almost all gang related.

This kidnapping and murder is different since it hits a part of the city with limited crime and isn't gang related.

This attack happened at the University of Memphis, which statistically speaking, is far safer than UTK.

And there are bad people from “certain areas” that are now venturing outside of those areas to commit crimes. The suburbs are seeing an uptick in activity as well.
