Crime Ridden Memphis

The standard is theoretically much higher when it is your job to protect and serve.

I don't want a typical run of the mill dumbass armed and policing the streets
Well, not many people want to be policemen now, why would they? That’s pretty much what you’re going to get, we have to have them… It, like nursing, is a pretty much thankless job, and people are leaving by the droves… as GenX we are probably going to be all taking care of ourselves in the hospitals and assisted livings at some point.. we morbidly joke about it a lot

I think there are 2 or 3 states that make it illegal for unmarked cars to pull anyone over for a routine traffic stop. They absolutely should be illegal nationwide.

I've been seeing some white SUVs in Hamilton Co that are marked, but the marking is almost invisible from most angles. The marking might be reflective, but I've never seen one at night to know. Looks like an attempt to be "marked" while basically unmarked. Those too should be considered unmarked as far as traffic stops go. Light bars on top have become so low in profile that there's no reason for hiding lights in the grilles either.

If it doesn’t look like a police car I’m not pulling over until we are in a parking lot or gas station where there are people.. it could be a trafficking pervert or a serial killer lol

Didn't they have him cuffed and then stood him up to beat him? Wasn't he cuffed when denied medical help? I watched the video and I thought I heard one officer (as they were standing around after) sask the others " ok, what are you going to say?". I may have misheard and will have to go watch it again to make sure. I lived in the twin cities during the chauvin incident and worked just 2 blocks from all the riots. All I'm saying is, in both incidents, they did not stop after having them cuffed and subdued. That's where I have the problem.......
See, I saw that he wasn’t cuffed, because he had his hands cuffed behind his back, he wouldn’t have been to do a 40 yard dash through the road (I’m not trying to be a smartbutt, I’m just trying to figure it out too)

I watched it until the end when he started making noises I was out, I just can’t stomach it,.. I just wonder if he had just let them cuff him, got to the station and got representation, it would have all gone differently. thank you for not being a butt to me lol
No offense LadyVol but if those five 200 lb trained cops had wanted to cuff the 150 pound skateboarder when they first pulled him from the car, they could have easily and put him in a car and it would have been over. Didn’t matter if he resisted or not. From what I saw he was on the ground for a good while before he got up and ran. For whatever reason, they wanted to punish him and they did. I think we’ll eventually find out what that reason is. Personally I think they were keeping an eye out for him near his mother’s house and found him. The location is pretty coincidental.

So, kind of toying with him, like a cat and mouse situation? Hmmm hadn’t considered that

Back when I was 16 or 17 here in cow town TN, one of the things we did on the weekend was drive around the local Hardees and do burn outs. The manager would always come flying out the back door and shake his fist and yell at us. One night there was an unmarked police car across the street and he chased me down, but he didn't have any flashing lights, only the spotlight mounted on the windshield pillar. I decided to run from him and had a good lead, but thought better of it and pulled over and waited on him to catch up. He was one pissed off cop and when he got to my door he jerked it open and slung me out of the car and on to the trunk lid. Luckily as most always he tied my last name to my uncle who was a local judge and let me go. I decided to never run from the cops again.

Not sure. I think they would have probably finished the job when they first had him down but he somehow got up and away from them. If that’s the case, the cops were careless. That just made them madder than they already were. Or they let him up to run so they had some excuse to use more force when they got to him the second time. Hard to say. Personally I don’t think they were smart enough to come up with the latter theory that quickly. We aren’t dealing with rocket scientists here.

I definitely wouldn’t say they were toying with him. They beat the hell out of him and were throwing haymakers and kicking him in the head while he was laying on the ground. It was totally uncalled for. Yes they were fired and charged and should be fully prosecuted.

Hmmm I meant initially.. maybe I could have worded it better.. I really can’t identify with what the police or the person who got beat to death were thinking, if I’m being honest.. 🤷‍♀️ You have to wonder though, all parties know you are recorded.. and this happens? Doesn’t make sense

I don't think your a smartbutt at all and appreciate the discussion. As Delmar said.....why was he not cuffed in the beginning? Who knows. Something else running around my head, alot of space in there so.....lol. if this scorpion unit is to take violent criminals off the street, wouldn't they know who those criminals are? At least the major players? Did they have Tyre under some sort of surveillance before hand? Not in ANY way saying Tyre was doing anything illigal! But wouldn't they have a list of suspects to watch for? If not and this was a random incident, then why escalate it to beating someone to death? Just watched the mom on CNN and the pain she feels in overwhelming! No way this should happen like it did.

Just throwing this out there, but it seems to me a lot of the time, problems and situations are less race driven, but more socioeconomically driven, and that may be a less charged angle to look at things? Idk…the article I saw where they were accusing the black police officers of being racist…I don’t really know because I’m not black…but, I was the only white person at my job ,with the exception of one other person in Louisiana for eight years, and my step father in law was black (he died), while I don’t think it gives me any type of qualifications lol, I think it does give me some interesting perspective.. I felt hostility from some, not all, on the job initially, and that’s a fact… with my FIL there were never any issues, except when we would all go somewhere, and it was usually from… get this…black women lol.. but nothing major 😂
Race is the easy lazy answer, because certain subsets of American society want to live in the past instead of moving into the 21 century. Its hard to move forward when you hold yourself back.

I agree, I think there is maybe more to the story? And as a mom that does break my heart for her, you love your kids no matter what they did or didn’t do, so in the end, it is all just probably irrelevant because he is gone forever

Last night we watched ‘You People’.. Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy.. produced and directed Jonah Hill, normally not my cup of tea lol… but the movie did have some really interesting points.. one analogy was that for some black people it was kind of like they were the wife who was cheated on, they wanted to perseverate, know the details, pick at the scab, but could never go forward because they really had not healed from it.. I thought that was interesting.. some of the movie was like really? 😂 but overall it was a pretty good movie (and just confirmed my previous theory as a GenXer, it’s really better to not dwell on it all of the time and make it such a big deal and just treat people the same and really try to not see color)..so simple, yet we have been told that is wrong lol… and now it is right again 😂

There was an incident a few years ago in Middle Tennessee where unmarked cars were pulling people over on the highways. Turns out these were robberies by the guy doing it. Not sure if they ever caught the guy (I can't find anything on that story online right now), but the safety aspect of unmarked cars is a concern just based on this one incident.

I got stopped a few years ago on a back country two lane road in SC and the two cars in front were back and forth on speed 50-55. I saw a long open stretch and passed; the front car was a cop in an unmarked Dodge like the ones in this incident. He pulled me over - nice guy actually. I wound up with a warning ticket. The place was pretty isolated - some traffic, but it was daylight. I guess most of us see the lights and naturally pull over, and that gives someone like you are talking about all the opportunity they need. I suggest and I need to start again using a radar detector. No alarm and somebody wants you to pull over might be all you need to save yourself. I also noticed that some cops leave their radars on at accidents - don't know if they do it as a warning that there's a problem ahead, but it makes sense if they do.

Look, I know what kind of poster I am here. I've existed on this forum for 14 years--damn near half my life--but I take next to zero issue saying that members like Franklin Pierce, TNVOLNAVY, and Csouth are absolute racist pieces of trash who should have their own forum (ideally Stormfront) to spew their brand of filth. f*** every shred of reasoning they attempt to exist on our wonderful site. f*** those guys.

I violate the ToS as much as them. I implore you to abide. Permaban all of us. One of me is easily worth that pile of asinine sh*t I just listed.

I plea to you guys to simply enforce. By all means.

Lol. Rent free. Probably the dumbest post you’ve made yet and that’s saying a lot.

This just in. Scorpion Squad is permanently disbanded. Evidently the city council didn’t get a say. Thought it would be argued more but nobody put up a fight.
