Critical race theory and elections

I would say lots. Do you think all of history is being taught? We're taught far less than there is to know, so of course. I didn't know about Juneteenth until I was 36 and I seek out history and read it in my free time.

Specifically, people are banning historical lessons about how we ended up with institutional racism that still affects us today. Keep fighting the good fight. Maybe burn some books while you're at it.

You seek out history to read on your free time? Sure you do. And Juneteenth? Fair enough. Institutional racism? Weak excuse. A black man became the most powerful man on the planet for 8 years under that same institution. It’s people who think like you who are disrespectful to black people. Oh they cannot succeed or have such a hard time because of institutional racism. It’s all political theater BS.

A black person has the same opportunities that any other person has to be whatever they want. Many great scientific discoveries were done by blacks people. But yeah you keep on holding them back though by buying into the current narrative.

Take a guess if he's white or not? Rich or poor?

Yeah, that's messed up! If that had taken place in any other state I probably would've questioned its validity but Mississippi? Yeah I totally can see it.

Question though. What was the "misdemeanor" he was charged with? Why was he even in this situation to begin with?

Honestly, does it matter? If accurate this is BS.

It is BS. I acknowledged that. But I would be curious to know why he was in this situation to begin with. To say it doesn't matter, I disagree wholeheartedly because that absolves any personal responsibility of the convicted. See this I think is part of the disconnect between those who are on opposing sides of this issue. While the sentence is certainly excessive and it should be overturned, it does absolutely nothing to address the fact that this man was breaking the law and behaving irresponsibly to a point that he put himself in a situation like this to begin with. To me THAT is the real issue. Was the man innocent and falsely convicted? OK then I stand on his side and say justice failed and it should be amended. But if he is in fact guilty, then he bares at least some personal responsibility of putting himself in this situation to begin with.

Biden can't pardon a state charge and a pardon wouldn't be politically benificial to a Mississippi governor.

Thanks for the correction. But Biden and his VP can, and should, use their bully pulpits.
This seems like an easy bipartisan issue to highlight the unequal treatment of blacks in the justice system. I’m all for criminals paying their debt to society but any rational person can see that Willie Nash is getting screwed.

Biden and Harris shouldn't have to use their bully pulpit and, given the political climate, doing so would probably hurt the dude in MS more than help. The governor should take care of this on his own and the cops that let a cell phone into the jail should be reprimanded.

Something tells me there’s a lot more to this story. He was sharing the phone with bad hombres or is really a bad hombre himself. Cell phones in correctional facilities are extreme hazards to the staff

It's your misplaced faith in government

Be warned, black, white, or whatever, TN recently reinstated serious criminal penalties for taking a mobile phone into a jail/prison. When they ask you to give it up at booking and you don’t, you have evidenced the criminal intent necessary to commit the offense. It’s your fault for not turning it over, not the deputy or guard’s fault for not finding it. You may just want to text your wife but there are other inmates who will take it from you and try to use it to facilitate serious crimes, possibly even murder of witnesses in pending trials. There are phones in every jail that inmates can use to call family. You don’t need your cell in there.

Naw, I know that the government lies, and lawyers lie. We don't have a justice system any more, we have a legal system, where both side's goal is to win at any cost through any means.

So then why do you assume there is more to the story if you know DA's are trying to win at any cost?

Exclusive — Watch: Marsha Blackburn in Long-form Video Interview Urges Republicans to ‘Fight the Culture War’

FRANKLIN, Tennessee — Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) is urging her GOP colleagues nationwide to join her in fighting the “culture war” against a rising radical left influencing various American institutions from entertainment to sports, corporations to media and on to government.

“You know, I find it so interesting that when you look at Marxist theology, what do they say?” Blackburn said when asked what the left is after. “They want to destroy the nuclear family. What do they want to do? They want to replace it with the government. My book, which came out last fall, Mind of a Conservative Woman, I talk about in one of the chapters about The Life of Julia. Remember when Obama did the Life of Julia? Julia goes to government-provided kindergarten and school, then she has student loans provided by the government, and the Obama administration, and then she works for the government and retires with her federal pension—and she has a child along the way but there is no mention of family, there is no mention of a mother or father relationship for this child.”

Shameless politician shamelessly plugging her book using buzz words and nonsense to strike fear in your hearts.

If the post is correct she can't even use buzz words correctly. I think she probably was looking for "Marxist ideology," not "Marxist theology."
