There are still the effects felt of systemic racism in this country. Some examples include how the military treated black soldiers with regard to the GI Bill. Also, take a look at why certain drugs were made illegal in the first place. Look at sentencing guidelines for crack that were in place. Look at sentencing disparities between minorities and whites. It cannot be overstated what impact the destruction of the black family unit had on future generations.
This.... I'm a high school drop out. I went back for my GED but that's as far as I went. My daughter is already well above my level of math at age 14. But I do what it takes to help her out or get her help. I've told her there are no valid excuses, just lame attempts. I hold her accountable because that's where I was failed.Probably because most parents in the US are lazy as hell and do nothing to foster their children’s education ….
It’s not anyone’s fault about the parental thing at this point except for those people making those choices. And there is no current sentencing disparities unless you are a career criminal that has committed multiple crimes. And there is no current drug offenses which treat blacks different from any other race. So again it’s a bunch of BSThey do have choices and often times they make poor choices, BUT the manner in which generations of black kids were raised without two parents or even seeing families with two parents is still having a dramatic effect on the black community. The sentencing disparities haven't ended yet. Nor have the drug offenses that were designed to affect minorities. This is why CRT is gaining traction because the people like to gloss over the past and ignore its impacts.
Your attempts to promote this systemic racism paradigm is BS. Stop the ridiculous gaslighting. Using systemic racism is a tool used by the weak minded people. All it does is good black people back and minimize the great accomplishments they have made.
it’s people like you who continue to hold black people back.
So you’re against critical race theory?Yes, it is people like me. I acknowledge flaws in the system. You bury them. I want to talk about them and shine a light on them. Not to give minorities anything extra, but to make people realize what has happened because that is the best way to prevent the future from repeating the past. We have to find a way to break the cycle. Handouts don't work and neither does ignoring issues while wrapping yourself in the flag and proclaiming how great America is and always has been. If it makes you uncomfortable then I'd say you're the problem.
At what point is it enough? It’s gone beyond recognizing our flaws to creating new ones. People aren’t asking to be treated equally, they’re asking for preferential treatment now.Yes, it is people like me. I acknowledge flaws in the system. You bury them. With CRT there is one flaw. There is one cause of all the problems and failures of all minorities. It's a bogus idea being pushed as an academic conceptYes, it is people like me. So….you’re opposed to critical race theory. What do you mean by critical race theory? I am all for examining policies, laws and issues to see if there is a racial component at play and rectifying to remove that component to level the playing field. I am not for implementing explicitly racist policies to tilt the playing field in the other direction. I am not in favor of the more radical aspects, but am in favor of examining our past with a more critical eye. We've got to do a better job, because POC have less education, less income, higher incarceration rates, less opportunity and are more dependent on the government than whites. Whatever system we have in place has failed miserably and it is time to look at it critically.
My own theory is that simply talking about the issues in an open honest way will lead to understanding and progress. This is not a problem that will be fixed overnight, but I know just from my own family dynamic... my parents are far less bigoted than their parents and I am far less bigoted than mine and my daughter has continued that trend.
@ClearwaterVol and your beliefs posted here directly oppose CRT as it is written

I wish we would just stick to teaching them things they need to know to make it in life.
I wish we would put a bigger emphasis on things that are more important such as financial things like assets/liabilities….. how to manage money…..retirement/savings….. I think we do a very poor job of preparing people for their future. You can't really want that. You don't want band and orchestra in school? Art? History? Why does anybody need history to "make it in life"? You really don't have to know anything about history to make it, yet it seems kind of important to learn.

By the time you get to college, its too late. It should be a high school freshman class. We might see fewer people buying **** they can't afford if they knew there were consequences. It could definitely be better. Most people graduate college without ever taking an economics course, which is just bonkers. Literally, everybody makes economic decisions all day every day, and most without any foundation for understanding that component of decision making.
