Crompton is a go for sat

Here's what I want to get across to you. I'm not saying Arkansas isn't going to blow us out. You very well could. I think you all have a good team and are feeling good. However, since Day 1, you've been unable to realllllly discuss this game in a fair manner. Put some statistics into context, even ours, and things become a little more close to the truth.

In that same light, you cannot truthfully think your defense holds a candle to LSU's. It's okay, hardly any defense does! Ours sure as hell doesn't.

If Arkansas wins Saturday, I already sense that you and your brethren will come here and say "WE TOLD YOU SO! GRUNT GRUNT SOMETHING ABOUT PIGS!" However, even if you all win Saturday, it's 1 game, and 1 game is an extremely small sample size. You will be considered by all of us as the better team, but in the end, my arguments are factual. Arkansas's defense is not in the same breath as LSU's.

Fair enough. If we win I'm not going to come on here saying I told you so...that much I can promise you. I'm a Hog fan remember, we are used to losing and to hearing all the smack talk afterwards. I know how it feels to lose and how mad you get when the winning team won't shut up. I will tell you good game and hopefully if you guys win you will do the same thing.

Not to mention that most of this smack talk is quite ambigous and noncommittive. We might beat you! Our defense might be good! Give me a break.

We are the Razorbacks...there are no guarantees for us.

Absolutely. If your Hogs beat our Vols, then I will consider you all a very good team. Auburn was a great win and the Gamecock win was solid. Beat a 3rd solid team, and there ya go!

Should be a close one to the very very end. One possession game, I imagine.

Come back if you win or lose. It would show alot more class than UGA fans and the COCKS

That's what I am afraid of. Year in and year out we have shown the amazing ability to choke in big games or close games. (See Arkansas/Tennessee in 1998). I really wished you guys would have beat LSU because it would make this game that much better.

Where is Hatvol? this thread seems right up his alley...At least for a flyby statistic drop or something

LSU is ranked #1 in total defense.
Arkansas is ranked #28 in total defense.

LSU has faced, on average, the 66th ranked offense.
Arkansas has faced, on average, the 70th ranked offense. Plus, you had SE Missouri State to help your stats.

I shouldn't have to go on ...

Let's look at a common opponent that LSU and Arkansas have both played. Auburn.

LSU allowed 72 yards rushing, Ark allowed 60.
LSU allowed 100 yards passing, Ark allowed 153.

Until Saturday, that's the only common opponent LSU and Ark share. Both games were played at Auburn, removing a homefield advantage for LSU or Ark.

By those numbers, I'd say LSU and Ark defenses measure pretty close to the same. We'll certainly learn more Saturday.

I think Kenny Irons, the key player in the Tiger offense was a little gimpy after the LSU game. I think that really hurt their offense.

Thank God these teams play more than 1 game!

You run what ya brung, brotha. It's the SEC. Everyone plays a little gimpy!

BTW, that excuse hasn't worked for Arkansas when McFadden was 75% against the Trojans. It sure isn't going to work for Irons against the Razorbacks.

Couldn't agree more.

Razorback fans are tired of hearing of much better a two loss LSU team is than a one loss Arkansas team.

Come late November, it may prove to be right....or wrong.

You didn't beat Auburn 50-14 and run up almost 500 yards of offense though.

Facts are facts.

LSU is the most talented team in the SEC. Better than UF, UT, UGA, Aub,... and Arkansas. Obviously, that doesn't always translate into victory. UF and Aub beat them and UT came close with a back up QB.

However, if they play close to potential and don't choke... Arkansas loses. Don't feel bad, there aren't but two or 3 teams in the country that aren't in the same boat.

See above post. You cannot realistically say that since he played well against LSU that he is going to play well against us. Every game is different.
Look back at my post... I said "possibility"... should have said "probability".

Nonetheless, his performance against LSU bodes well for how well he will perform against Arkansas who probably doesn't have a single defensive starter that would start for LSU... and few that would make the two deep.

I'm not knocking your guys. UT doesn't compare much better. UF probably has the second most talented defense in the conference and not many of their guys would compare. LSU is just loaded with talent.

Crompton showed up well against them and should play well against Arkansas.

I'd suspect that if you win it will be because UT's defense didn't stop your run game and not because Crompton plays poorly.

BTW, Dick isn't Russell... not even close. So I don't think Arkansas will make a living with the pass. The most comparable teams UT has played to Arkansas concerning style are Cal and Bama. Neither did well offensively.

LSU played Fresno State...so don't try to throw SEMO in my face.

Fresno State, inspite of a poor season is a D1 school and SEMO is not. I forgot SEMO even had football team.

Why does Arkansas dodge their instate competition like Arkansas State?

All smack aside, I'm not sure how terribly smart that would be.

Every team Arkansas has played to date, including, Auburn - whom has played LSU - and SC, has said Arkansas hits harder than anyone they've faced all seaon. If Crompton tries to take on the Arkansas D head-on, he will get rocked.
Crompton is 6'3", 230 and runs a 4.5-4.6. He is physically not all that dissimilar from Tebow.

He isn't going to run over your D-linemen... or your LB's. However, you don't have a db that's over 200 lbs. If he's coming... they'll hit low or get embarrassed on national tv.

I really hope they have talked to him about that. I love the enthusiasm, but there is no glory in your backup QB going around lowering his helmet rather than getting down.

Interestingly, Fulmer has not announced anything about the QB who is starting yet.

He will announce it tomorrow.

My dad and I had an argument about whether or not he should have gone down. I said he should because if he got hurt than Jim Bob Cooter was in the game. My dad is an old school football guy and said the QB is a player just like everyone else. After some yelling we had another drink and all was well.

Cooter will never play. Bo Hardegree is third string. If he goes down, Lucas Taylor or Sinclair Cannon, or someone athletic that played QB in high school will be stuck back there.

I thought it was awesome when he did it...then I realized that he was the backup QB and it wouldn't be good if he got injured.

It wasn't intentional. He spun and the guy was there... in fact, he was probably a little off balance when he hit him and still put him squarely on his butt.

I like ya sjt, but talent evaluation is farrrrrrrr from fact.

LSU physically dominated UT. They've physically dominated everyone they've played. That's talent.

Their problem is that Miles is beginning to have an effect and its showing in their discipline, consistency, and execution. If Pelini or Fisher jump this year which is fairly likely... I think they're about 2 years from playing for 3rd in the west.
