Cuanzo has amazed me

I really thought we were gonna get blown out of Hawaii, but we fought hard and easily could have won either game if a few more things went our way. Still early, but we may be an NCAA Tourny team afterall.

I don't think/know if we're a tournament team yet, but based on the early results, we aren't going to be an easy out or W like a lot of people thought including myself.

I am beginning to waiver on coach Martin. If we had won (which we should have) it would gone a long way towards belief that he could general this team. I am not into moral victories. Moral victories are the bread of contentment. You show me a "good loser" and I will show you a loser. There are no points for coming in second.

So, you're waivering only 5 games into a season? You can already tell what kind of coach and team this is going to be and it doesn't look good to you? According to what I saw, UT was picked to finish 11th out of 12 teams in the SEC and hung with Duke until about 5 min to go in the game and gave Tiger High every damn thing they wanted and we should've won the game if Golden doesn't get selfish. Martin and Golden will both learn from this tournament as the team will too. It's still just November. Not February or March.

My God, this kind of statement sums up the fickleness of everyone having and wanting to win it all now. Good thing Coach K wasn't held to your strict guidelines because he would've been fired from Duke before he ever got the chance.

Off topic, but how many different names do you think Kesling will call Coach Martin this year?

I just have a feeling we are going to hear "And Tennessee is coach by Cheech Martin", at least one

Cheech Marin? Tommy Chong?

I think it is a testament to Martin and his staff that they have been able to incorporate the 4 new players into the line-up and all are making contributions this early in the season. Washpun has shown his athleticism andability to distribute the ball, Yemi has played BB for 4 years and looks like he knows what he is doing when he is in the game, very impressive. Richardson looks to be very talented both offensively and defensively. Miller looks like he can help at the 4. As far as I'm concerned, this just proves again that the * system in recruiting is a joke for the most part.

You let me pick a team of 5*s and you pick any other players in college basketball today and I would take your last dime in a game. Where do you people come from?

Rotation going forward ?: Just my opinion and observation of the games played
Guards/Wings
Trae Golden G 6-1 209 Pearls recruit
Wes Washpun G 6-1 163 Martins recruit
Josh Richardson G 6-6 186 Martins
Jordan McRae F 6-5 174 Pearls
Cameron Tatum G 6-7 193 Pearls

Forwards/Center
Kenny Hall F 6-9 222 Pearls
Yemi Makanjuola C 6-9 244 Martins
Jeronne Maymon F 6-7 265 Pearls
Dwight Miller F 6-8 240 Martins

My point is : of the 9 in the rotation- 5 were Pearls and
4 are Martins = he can recruit

This. . .all four of his recruits (not counting Chevious who's gonna redshirt) are getting good minutes and playing hard, especially on D. From what I've seen, Zo's four guys play their @sses off.

No and I didn't say we did. The previous post said that the star system was useless and I was trying to tell them that 5* players like Sullinger (Ohio State), Rivers (Duke), and Barnes (North Carolina) and many more 5*'s
live up to their billing.

Still laughing at the thoughts of you wavering on Cuonzo. Considering you've been a critic the entire time since your hero was canned. The only thing funnier than your "waffling" is your pretending to know the first thing about basketball.

Downright humorous. Leg slappin' funny.

Since you like humor so much, go look in the mirror. Oh wait, that would only make you cry.

And if you're not getting 5*s then why not get players that bust their @ssed and play within your system. I know that's hard to explain cause UT basketball did not have a "system" under Bruce after he decided to recruit players who couldn't press and turn people over.

It's easy to do when you "hand-pick" your 5 stars after you've seen what they can do in college. I guarantee you couldn't hand pick 5 - 5* players in High School and beat my 3 and 4 star players more than 5 out of 10 times. I'll take heart over stars any day.

I agree with this. Even lazy talent is still better than a motivated average player. Scotty was lazy and filled with talent and he was better than 95% of players in america at his position. Of course only the 99% get's into the NBA.

I'll take 5 5 stars over a tough 3-4 star group any day.

I hope Tobias is enjoying his unpaid assistant coaching job at Alcoa. He would have flourished under Martin.
