Siracha is named for the Thai community where it originated. The siracha we know in the US is the creation of an entrepreneur of Thai heritage approximating his forebears' sauce.
 
nothing Chinese is any good (Sriracha )

Don't eat much Chinese, occasionally make some stir fry, but hot and sour soup is my favorite soup. I make it with Mongolian fire oil (sesame oil) and rice vinegar. Makes my scalp sweat. It kicks colds in the ass 10x better than chicken noodle.
