Current class rank

If we were technically able to count the tfr that we just picked up from Michigan we would be sitting at 10th. Had we picked up a couple that we got very close to landing we would be fifth or sixth. We have not seen this type of recruiting since Fulmer ( the early years ) :)
I am very pleased with how hard our coaches are working - and the talent we are bringing in. Next year could be a very special class.

Soon.

Fulmer had the 3rd best class a year or two before he was fired.

Lane and Dooley both had top ten classes and Dooley had another ranked at 14.

Butch had a class within the top 5 and 1 in the top 10.

In short, Pruitts recruiting thus far is in line with Dooley’ avg.

Someone said 13th in the other thread, but it seems like we'd be much closer to the top after this haul. Still 4 spot leap is great progress.
We are 13th on the 247 composite with Crouch. The composite averages the various services and is the only thing I look at anymore. Unfortunately that still only rates us for 6th in the SEC. Keep recruiting like this, give them adequate coaching, and we should get out of the cellar though.

"Grudenhaslanded" is spot on with the assessment above. We have recruited okay in the past, but our problem has been coaching them up and getting bang for our bucks. (For a player analysis of the phrase "That's what we get paid for" see the unabridged works of Tyler Bray, circa 2012.)
This class now building is, compared to ones mentioned above, a little below the average but there's still lots to do before it's sealed. But we are sorta kinda getting talented players, but not enough of them to ensure competitive depth. And again, we have to have coaches that demand excellence and know how to train and motivate players to perform at a higher standard than we have seen in recent years.

Scout has us at 10, Rivals has us at 12, 247 has us at 13, not sure where ESPN has us at. We get some variation due to the beauty contest on what makes a 5* vs a 4* and a 4* vs a 3*.

This so far is as good as the 2014 class., easily.... in my honest opinion.

In terms, of where our team is (proven playmakers, veterans) and what it's missing. We are hitting home runs EVERYWHERE!
Our Oline is experienced but not deep our greatly talented.
- we sign 4 guys that can contribute immediately and 1 is almost a lock to start. Not to mention Wright...
at RB we have one guy that is truly dangerous and another who is "good" (Jordan).
- we get Gray who is as good at making people miss than anyone we've recruited. Look for Beasley here too eventually. (Power)
Pass rush needs some spark and depth.
- Harrison and Crouch are both low center of gravity super athletic powerful men who are already college strong! By the way, watch Harrison against Buford, GA in his Hudl account. That is a line with 3 SEC lineman and Harrison wreaks havoc against it!
We just signed Terrell Suggs and Von Miller haha. Okay....im exaggerating, but my point is, we just improved tremendously signing these two.

And probably the most important recruit; Brain Maurer. Turn on his tape. his arm is Okay, but his feet quick and field awareness are what gets me excited!! He controls the defense with his eyes, his feet and his tempo. Callaway, Jennings and Palmer are going to have a good year.

So yeah, we might sneak into the top 10, but already in my eyes this a top 5 class because of what our team needed and the bonus values were adding!
This will be whole different looking team next year! Thank you Darrel Taylor for coming back!

So Maurer is already QB1? Classic.

I read in genealogical circles that Hiwasse didn't make in America, so I guess the current quarterback is being challenged. So be it. We're always looking for new blood! You have to excuse me, I'm listening to Foreigner, but you have to show out on the big stage when the whole volnation is rooting for you! That special play you make when you become the leader is when you become the leader. My music just went to radar love by Golden Earing! It is what it is. You have to prove on the field! Forget about Stats and film! It's in the man's heart and soul and the desire to succeed.

The day you start listening to Pink Floyd you might ought to wait a day or two before you post!

That's flat false. Dooley's classes had average recruit ratings of 88.5 all 3 years. His best was #7 class (with 27 commits!) his lowest was 22nd. Same average, difference was 22 recruits vs 27 commits. No change in same mediocre average talent ratings.

With Wright we will have a 90.3 average, 90.6 adding Solomon. 2 points higher than Dooley. For context, if you went 2 points down from Dooley (88.5 to 86.5), you are in UK territory. 2 pts is a biig difference. Highest since Fulmer days. Add Pickens or 1 more surprise and we will hit a 91 average, up there with every big boy outside of Bama, UGA.

Dooley did not have a top 10 class. I will say that he did a nice job of salvaging the 2010 class and I believe it finished 12th (which considering what a late start he had, was very impressive)... the problem is, that was his best class at Tennessee. The last class he signed in 2012 was in the 22-24 range and slightly behind Vanderbilt. And I could be wrong but I don't expect Pruitt to ever be so stupid as to sign an entire class without even one Offensive Lineman.

According to Rivals... Dooley's 1st class was # 9..then 13...then 17.
