If we were technically able to count the tfr that we just picked up from Michigan we would be sitting at 10th. Had we picked up a couple that we got very close to landing we would be fifth or sixth. We have not seen this type of recruiting since Fulmer ( the early years )
I am very pleased with how hard our coaches are working - and the talent we are bringing in. Next year could be a very special class.
Soon.
JG supporters are a dense bunch. He doesn’t throw many interceptions become he’s either taking a sack or throwing to the check down receiver on 3rd & 8 for a two yard gain. Perhaps take your own advice. How many interceptions did wonder kid throw again? SEC dbs would eat him for lunch. Learn football.
Play the best guy! Period!
Trevor Lawrence, Jake Fromm, Tua- Hurts etc...have come in as true freshman and been the man.
Meanwhile, we have a guy going into is 4th year, still only knowing half the game.
Football is a team sport, and a big part of that is the QB. The team plays better when they feel like the QB can keep them in the game or even put the team on his back.
All these people continuing to give JG chance after chance after chance chance, are ignoring how his own teammates view his production.
So if Maurer can come in, show confidence AND football competence from the QB spot, then you absolutely play him! Maurer is MUCH more aware in the pocket. He feels pressure. It's just about learning the offense and then getting a chance to show it!
But this isn't 1985...people need to not be so quick to think True Freshman can't play QB right away...QBs are far more advanced these days.

Thank you. You have restored my faith in humanity. I honestly don’t understand why this alludes so many on this board.Lol, I agree with you on this for sure. Anyone who can't see how JG got the stats, very short passes and sometimes the receiver makes a good move and gains more yardage thus making JG stats look good. On the few long ones he did complete, our receivers just got a 50 50 ball. Very rarely did he hit a receiver in stride on downfield passes. Most were underthrown.
Dooley’s Classes averaged 13th in the country.
Butch Jones’ classes averaged 13th in the country.
Pruitt, with his first full class, now sits at 12th or 13th in the country.
If his own teammates are so concerned about his production, maybe they should worry about blocking somebody and not getting pushed back 4 yards OR blown by, creating separation in the secondary, chipping the Blitzing corner before getting into the open flat. Did I leave anyone out? If his team mates can say they are doing their job 95% then maybe they can lose faith in his ability. Right now our Off Linemen have burning forearms in the 4th Q from helping their QB off the ground. The only thing JG did have on his back consistently was defense players some of it his own doing but a lot not so much.Play the best guy! Period!

That's what happens when the entire fan base convinces itself we lost to Vandy because they have more talented players.I'm always surprised that any person acts surprised Tennessee recruits at a high level. Every coach who ever coaches here recruits at a high level. Dooley was the worst recruiter in NCAA history and still signed top 25 classes. I can understand Michigan fans maybe not knowing that, but UT fans are acting surprised by it.
The obsession over rankings.....
You would think if any fan base were over recruiting rankings, it would be Tennessee fans.
Above all else, it's the coaching.
Are there guys out there like an Eric Berry where it would not have mattered if the coach was Fulmer, Dooley, Kiffin, Jones, or Pruitt? Yes, there are.
But, by and large, there are a lot of guys on a roster who will never play on Sunday. What do you do with them? What do you do with the guys who will play on Sunday (Hello, Alvin Kamara).
But, clearly, "rankings" don't matter if you lose 3 in a row to Vandy. Either, the rankings were dead wrong and you've got a lot of people who can't play.
OR
You have a coach so pathetic that's he's going out and putting a superior team on the field and still getting manhandled.
OR
Both.
I'm done with rankings. You're going to get guys. Other teams or going to get their guys. Now, what?
Maurer? 12 iirc. Shrout had same issue. Nobody taking the spot unless they make MASSIVE strides.
