Current playoff picture

I agree, assuming they beat TX or A&M next week. Obviously, USA is projecting TX winning tonight and next week.

I also think ACC getting 3 teams in is very likely IF Clemson beats SMU. The one thing I like-is most projections I’ve seen after the iron bowl still have the gumps with less than 25% chance to make the playoffs. Most are saying Miami is in before the gumps and some are even suggesting ASU in before the gumps. Looks like the SEC will get 3 teams in regardless of the SEC championship game results (assuming that is GA vs. TX next week).

Here’s the link to the article for anyone interested:

Like do I think Bama, Ole Miss, or even USC are better teams than 11-1 Indiana and 10-2 Miami? Of course. But do I think they should be ranked ahead of them especially 10-2 Miami? Of course not

USC is playing really good football right now, one of the hottest teams, ASU looking good too but level of competition is not close to the SEC.

I hope so and based on this latest projection you’re correct:

CFP bracket projections: Live updates

Here's a live projection of the 12-team CFP as Week 14 games become finalized:

Last updated Saturday, Nov. 30 at 7:24 p.m. ET. Records reflected on Week 14 results.

  1. Oregon (11-0)
  2. Texas (10-1)
  3. SMU (11-1)
  4. Boise State (11-1)
  5. Penn State (10-1)
  6. Notre Dame (11-1)
  7. Georgia (10-2)
  8. Tennessee (10-2)
  9. Ohio State (10-2)
  10. Indiana (10-1)
  11. Miami (10-2)
  12. Arizona State (9-2)
Go VOLS!!

This looks pretty accurate based on assumptions. Whether it’s Clemson or SMU in 3 is irrelevant to our place since both would jump us.

At this point I think we want Texas to win out and beat UGA so we get the 7 and play Indiana at home.

That said we could actually go higher. Penn St should fall behind us if they lose to Oregon in the Big 10 championship. Or if Boise loses to UNLV.

It wouldn’t surprise me if they protected them because the Committee is run by the Big 10. But the Michigan loss is worse than our Ark loss because it was at home for OSU.
The issue is the loss to Oregon was by 2 pts and it was really close. They could go whatever way they want and then justify their pick afterwards.

Even if Boise loses to UNLV, they will be replaced as the #4 seed by the Big 12 champ, who is also behind us, so that’s a wash.

The committee will set up whatever they want. A lot of big ten on that committee so it will favor the big ten. The five and six seeds are the best seeds possibly even better than a bye imo. The one seed will likely see Tennessee, Ohio state, Texas or Georgia in their first game bc those teams will likely be the teams at 8&9; fifth seed in comparison would play Arizona St then Boise. Even a crap team like Penn st or Notre dame can run that “gauntlet” 😂

I really don’t care as long as we’re in. Of course I would love to play at home. Other than that I would prefer not to play in Athens; don’t really care otherwise where we play if it’s not a home game.

Big 10 loser will host a game. That's #1 vs #3. No chance that loser slides that far.
If Georgia beats Texas, I can't see #2 dropping far enough to not host. Georgia losing is our only chance

If UGA beats Texas, I think we’re probably getting a Tennessee-Ohio State first round matchup. Only question is where would it be played.
I agree. Makes sense for this to be the 8/9 and would be a huge game for the tv networks

No way Tennessee stays at 8

Yer chasin' fools gold I tell ya'. They're not going to let us have a home game. We're the bastards of NCAA football.
How can they avoid it though? The winner of SEC, Big 10, and ACC will get an automatic bye. ND will also likely get a bye. So then the teams hosting a home game would be the loser of SECCG, loser of Big10 CG, Tennessee, and Ohio State.

It seems like the only way they could screw us would be to let the loser of ACCCG host AND Boise State. But maybe I’m missing something??

Can move up in rank and not in seeding. All depends on where Ohio State moves. Miami moves down below us but they were already a bye team; SMU or big twelve champ assuming SMU loses championship would just take that seed that Miami gave up.

Bottom line Ohio state’s spot is all that matters right now to us. If they’re above or below us. Sets up to be us two playing each other in either Knoxville or Columbus.

Notre Dame cannot receive a bye. Even if they’re undefeated and the highest ranked team, they can only get to fifth seed I believe bc they’re independent.

Likely. Also possible that we would match up vs Texas but I doubt it. Columbus imo is the most likely scenario. Hope I’m wrong and we get them in Knoxville

That’s right. I guess Boise State is in position to get the 4th bye? In that case I think for us to host a game either Ohio State or UGA (if they lose to Texas) would have to drop below us in the ranks.

I keep seeing these accusations of the committee being comprised mostly of B1G representatives. There is exactly ONE B1G person on the committee, out of 13 individuals.

Keep in mind that graphic was bracket seed not ranking. And we are 9 seed entering this weekend.

We move up 2 to six in rankings but likely the 8 seed due to the configuration of this thing with the byes and the people behind us jumping us in seed. I think we get to the 7 seed when it’s all said and done.

After what I saw from Texas tonight, and the way Georgia has played lately, it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see the Longhorns get some revenge next Saturday.

Where they drop Ohio St is going to have big ramifications for us. They should be behind us but we all know how that usually works for us.

It’s almost like rock, paper, scissors this year in this conference different teams just match up well. Georgia beat Texas’s ass in Austin; wasn’t close either. Georgia “could” be fighting for their playoff lives as well with the third loss being possible.

Dinich’s bracket was just shared on SEC football final. Thus far I think she has been spot on with what the committee does.

She has UT as a 9 and Ohio State as an 8. UT playing at Ohio State.

I suspect this will be the next bracket.

I don’t see Clemson being ranked in the top 4 even if they beat SMU.
They don’t have a win over a ranked opponent this season.
They would be in by rule, but I don’t see them being ranked higher than the champions of the other conferences
