That’s right. I guess Boise State is in position to get the 4th bye? In that case I think for us to host a game either Ohio State or UGA (if they lose to Texas) would have to drop below us in the ranks.
Yeah Boise most likely gets the 4 seed and a bye. If Clemson beats SMU, all hell breaks loose 😂. Big 12 could be 4 seed and Boise could slide up to 3 I think

A lot of moving parts and we don’t understand what criteria the committee will use on the other teams. I think probably Notre dame or Oregon if they lose gets the five seed, Penn state also possible; you see the set up here already. Big ten will get a bye team and probably another team in that prime five seed then another two teams down the rank a bit. SEC still can win it all but likely it will run through a cold weather environment to get through the first round.

I don’t see Clemson being ranked in the top 4 even if they beat SMU.
They don’t have a win over a ranked opponent this season.
They would be in by rule, but I don’t see them being ranked higher than the champions of the other conferences
They would not be in by rule. Unless some chaos happens in big twelve. SMU or the big twelve will get the bye, I don’t think Clemson can at this point.

Dinich’s bracket was just shared on SEC football final. Thus far I think she has been spot on with what the committee does.

She has UT as a 9 and Ohio State as an 8. UT playing at Ohio State.

I suspect this will be the next bracket.
Pretty much what I had on mine as well. Only other scenario I see is those two being flip flopped.

Yeah we know at least one SEC teams maybe two will be sent up north whether Notre Dame, Ohio State or Penn State if they lose to Oregon. No way the committee is going to miss out on the complaints those schools always make about us not playing up there in November so now we will be sent in December.

I’m saying if they beat SMU and are ACC champions.
They wouldn’t be in even if they did that?

Looked at some big 12 tiebreakers and where they are ranked and updated my possibilities View attachment 702211
You can go ahead and eliminate Miami from your list. And the SEC Champ will be no worse than the 2 seed. Georgia is already ranked 2 spots ahead of SMU and will remain that way this week. If Oregon loses and Texas wins then Texas will be the 1 seed and Penn State will be the 2 seed. Also, we can’t be certain Boise wins the MW. UNLV is perfectly capable of winning. If that happens then the Big 12 champion will be the 4 seed and UNLV will be the 12 seed. There’s still so many things that can happen.

One thing that is much clearer is the teams that will at worst be hosting in the first round no matter what happens this week:

Oregon
Texas
Penn State
Notre Dame
Georgia
Tennessee

Other teams that are locks for the CFP:

ACC Champs
Mountain West Champs
Big 12 Champs
Ohio State
Indiana

The only really crazy thing that could happen is if Clemson wins the ACC and they decide to make SMU the last team in and keep Alabama/South Carolina out. SMU will be ranked 7th heading into champ week and we have no idea how they are going to treat the runner ups. They may not punish them as much as the regular season due to having to play the extra game. So someone like SMU could lose and still be in as the 11 or 12 seed.

Not likely. Big twelve champ would likely move up into the bye seed.

Four highest ranked conference champs get bye seeds. Fifth conference champ is in as at large bid but doesn’t get automatic bye.

I think Clemson winning the ACC causes some heartburn for the 3 loss trio in Bama, Ole Miss, and USC. Because Clemson would steal a spot and I'm not sure how Miami can be 10-2 and be ranked below Bama, Ole Miss, and South Carolina....
I think what Tuesday looks like is this:

12- Miami (First Team out line)
13- Bama (Second team out line)
14- South Carolina
15-Ole Miss
16- Clemson

One thing the committee might do is just say "**** it, we can't decide between the 3 SEC schools, Miami lost two games on the road by 9 combined points while Bama and South Carolina got blown out at least once and Ole Miss has the worst loss" but I still think the SEC is not going to let that happen.

What's going to infuriate me is if the committee puts Ohio State between us and Georgia. Letting Georgia move up a spot and keeping us the same after what transpired this weekend would be an illogical travesty.

We will have to wait and see what the Big 10 committee decides. Any that is pretty much what it is the Big 10 committee. GBO

The CFP projects the next week if all teams would to have “won out”. Or to be a “runner up champ team” Whenever a team loses, they usually will “swap” a team within their conference or a team right behind them.

This is how they were projecting last week :

1. Oregon (13-0) B10 Champs
2. Texas (12-1) SEC Champs
3. Miami ( 12-1) ACC Champs
4. Boise St ( 12-1) G5 Champs

5. OSU ( 11-2) runner up from 1st conference
6. Penn St (11-1) 3rd best in 1st conference
7. Notre Dame (11-1) 1st in independent at large
8. Georgia (10-3) runner up from 2nd conference

9. Tennessee (10-2) 3rd best in 2nd conference
10. SMU (11-2) runner up from 3rd conference
11. Indiana (11-1) 4th best in 1st conference
12. ASU (11-2) B12 Champs ( last conference)

They ranked the conferences as follow:
1. B10
2. SEC
3. ACC
4. G5
5. Independent
6. B12

Now with Miami out of the ACC champ game it allows SMU to sneak in but because they’ll have to play a 3 loss they get bumped to 4th best conference. With OSU out of their champ game and dropping 4th in the B10 they’ll be closer to Indiana. This how it could be :

1. Oregon ( 13-0) B10
2. Texas ( 12-1) SEC
3. Boise St (12-1) G5
4. SMU (12-1) ACC

5. Penn St ( 11- 2) runner up
6. Notre Dame (11-1)
7. Georgia (10-3 ) runner up
8. Indiana (11-1)

9. Tennessee (10-2 )
10. AZU (11-2) champ
11. OSU (10-2)
12. Miami (10-2)

South Carolina at 13
Clemson at 14.. they’d have to beat SMU to get in

Top 4 conference winners are the top 4 seeds. If Clemson wins the ACC championship and they are ranked higher than at least one other conference champion, then they would get the #4 seed.

So So So confusing at this point. Makes for great drama though, almost like a Springer (OSU & Michigan) show! Ha. Finally a male soap opera and I love it!!!! GREAT problem to have VOL fans.

I don't believe they "ranked the conferences" as you stated. They place the 4 highest ranked conference champs in the top 4, bye positions. Clemson will drop so even if they win the ACC they may be below Arizona State in ranking and therefore would be seeded just like the at large bids (although guaranteed to be in)

The way Bama and South Carolina fans are arguing on FB about who deserves a playoff spot is hilarious. I think they both need to be left out and the fans need to sit in the corner for timeout. No 3 loss team should get in.

I don’t like it, but I think they will sneak in.
Then this whole thing is a farce and it’s just picking 12 teams the committee likes rather than the 12 best teams. Too many good teams remaining with 2 losses or less.

I don’t believe they will drop Ohio State below us. I think 7 is the best we can do, and more likely 8.

There will be 1 or 2 conference championship game blowout losers, likely Texas and/or Penn State. Either one or both drop below Vols.

It’s almost like rock, paper, scissors this year in this conference different teams just match up well. Georgia beat Texas’s ass in Austin; wasn’t close either. Georgia “could” be fighting for their playoff lives as well with the third loss being possible.
I dont see Sark out coaching Smart in any phase
