Cutcliffe

Cut has done nothing to suggest he'd be successful here. When the media announced (the last time around) that Cut was hired, there was a Chit Storm of backlash, and he or Hamilton pulled the plug at the last minute.

I remember being instantly depressed when I heard he was the new coach. Surely to goodness we can do better than Dooley and Cut.

Huh?

Cut was a disciplinarian. Just ask Ainge. Like previous poster said, I think he would get the right DC in, and he needs a good recruiter or 2 on his staff for sure. BTW, about a year ago Chris Lowe said that had Cut stayed on board the last time, we may have gotten Terrelle Pryor.

Pryor was coming to Tennessee to play for Cut. That was a done deal. Pryor just could not talk himself into going to Duke(He would have qualified). Top QBs would always consider playing for DC. If he were at a big time school, it just makes their decision alot easier.

Heard a bit of interesting info today. Now I don't pretend to be in any kind of loop, but a co-worker of mine 's family is good friends with the families of one of the Duke coaches.

Here is what I was told today. One of the offensive coaches was informed by Cutcliffe to be ready for a possible move to Knoxville. Cutcliffe does believe that Dooley won't be retained after the season. Additionally, he believes that he is A favorite for the job. He will accept if offered. He told the coach that he would bring him along to Knoxville to be the new OC. I really don't wanna reveal the coaches name but with enough digging, a fairly intelligent person can figure out who it is.

I know there will be haters and bashers. Feel free to flame away. I think you'll find that in my time here, I don't make this kind of post. Clearly, only time will tell, but I just wanted to pass along what I was told today.

Duke is the perfect school for Cut

Spoke with a fairly big booster on 10/30 and he says Cutt isn't going anywhere. He is happy, and the stress level is where he wants it.

I don't think Cut could recruit the way we need to win in the SEC at least not against Ala, Florida, Georgia, LSU

If we were 6-2 or 7-1 right now, recruiting would be alot easier. Especially with AU and AR having bad years. Cut would not be ideal, but he would be able to coach this team well enough to have beat UGA, MSU, and USCe IMO. We will have a new coach for next year. I have faith we will be a better team no matter who is coaching.

I love Cut and think it wouldn't be to bad of an idea to hire him. But remember people, he turned us down a few years ago to stay at Duke. And with his recent success I just don't see him coming back. Not to mention he is a few years away from possibly retiring.

Yes, the title is misleading, but seriously a man who I called from Chattanooga (trying to purchase a vehicle from him) asked me what the word on the coaching search was in Knoxville. I told him there were numerous rumors floating, but that it was still up in the air (Gruden). He told me that his "sources" down there are saying that Hart closed a deal with Cutcliffe to come back and be the HC at UT.

I think it's pretty funny how different the rumors are less than 200 miles away. Can't wait for it to be OVER.

Ouch... That actually stung a little bit..

This aligns with what Ainge said in regards to uniting the fan base. It may not unite the fan base in a volnation poster's eyes but from Ainge's point of view it certainly would be (he loves coach cut)

Ugh, I can suddenly see it being Cutcliffe. That was who they wanted in 2010. Ugh

The Kiffin mattress fires will look tame compared to the hell that would rain down if Hart hires Cutcliffe. They'll burn Neyland to the ground.
