D4H's 2017 NBA Draft Preview

He's in truly rarified air

You do know there was summer league before 2012? Maybe not in Las Vegas but they've been playing summer league before 2012. Just look at the names that won the MVP in 2009 and 2010.

Blake Griffin and John Wall. Not bad company. I think Lonzo will have NBA success comprable to them.

Comparable success to Blake Griffin AND a "SUPERSTAR"....

Anyone that thinks Lonzo Ball won't be a SUPERSTAR after the way he played this summer league is kidding themselves. The kid has one in lifetime talent. I wouldn't be surprised if he led the Lakers to the playoffs as a rookie. He's that good.

Well first off, you've hinted that Lonzo will be an all time great. There's a chance (although slim) that Wall gets there. Griffin isn't even a superstar right now.

And for the record, before Wall and Griffin, Jerryd Bayless, Nate Robinson and Randy Foye won NBA Summer League MVPS. Again, just absolute rarified air for Lonzo right now.

Blake Griffin has had injury problems lately but he was a star early on in his career. I just mentioned him and Wall since no one will dispute they are at least very good all-star caliber NBA players. When the first list was put out, thhe implication was only scrubs win the Summer League MVP award. Now the names overall might not be impressive but every now and then a great player wins it.

Lonzo Ball will be an all-time great not because of a summer league award but because that's just who he is. His talent is generational. If you watched him play in college or summer league more than once you would have seen it. He's special. And I can't wait to watch him this year because I think he will be phenomenal. His play will be a hot topic all season.

Lonzo may very well be a really good player, but anyone pointing to summer league as proof is foolish. He's being defended by rookies and guys trying to hang on to roster spots. Get back to me when he's getting triple doubles against Beverly, Dre, CP3, etc or legit NBA defenses.
