D4H's 2017 NBA Draft Preview

So that means 5 other full seasons in his prime, his teams didn't make the finals.

Sure. Bird's Celtics and Detroit Pistons accounted for the four after his rookie season...dynasty teams btw :wink2: I guess it was inexcusable for a rookie carrying a bad team to lose in the first round...cept when you remember Lebron's didn't even MAKE the playoffs his rookie year.

Lebron's Cavs won 18 more games his rookie year then the year before
MJ'e Bulls won 11 more games his rookie year then the year before.

One went to the playoffs every season and was undefeated in the Finals.

One didn't. :)

The cavs also had a worse season than the bulls before their star joined so they had further they could climb.

Bulls: 27 then 38
Cavs: 17 then 35

Because he played for 2 dynastys at their peak as a role player. The Lakers organization was a dumpster fire at the end of Kobe's career. Not his fault they werent contending. If Kobe would have went to a different team to chase more rings he would have 9 or 10. He was loyal to LA. Something LeBron wouldnt know anything about.

Wait what? Whose fault was it? Kobe chased off D12 (and Shaq). Nobody wanted to play with him after Dwight. He took $24M and was unwilling to take a back seat, ensuring they couldn't build a contender.

Kobe couldn't help it, his killer mentality makes him selfish.

There is absolutely no comparison to the quality of Finals opponents. This is the dumbest argument and it keeps getting repeated over and over.

Correct, GPs Sonics would smoke all those fools LBJ beat.

Easily the best team he faced. Suns and Jazz were pretty good. Blazers were solid. Lakers were sad. I would say it probably goes:

GSW
GSW
GSW
Sonics
Spurs
Spurs
Spurs
OKC
Dallas
Jazz
Suns
Jazz
Blazers
Lakers

I loved that Suns squad back in the day. I based my game after Dan Majerle, I'm slow, white and I can shoot 3's. Well at least now.

Switch out Kobe with Tracy McGrady or Ray Allen and the Lakers win Five or six titles with Shaq.

You can't really say that anymore cause Kobe won 2 out of 3 rings with Pau Gasol as his 2nd best player. A guy who before he teammed up with Kobe had less accolades than Chris Bosh and Kevin Love.

Kobe never had Kyrie Irving or Dwyane Wade to add to Pau Gasol. He only had the always injured Andrew Bynum that only averaged 7ppg and 5rpg in the playoffs and Lamar Odom (a guy who never made an all-star team).

Kobe's 2 rings post-Shaq validate his greatness. Stop hating.

Kobe was great. He was the best player on 2 title teams. Gasol and Odom were great players, tho. I'll take either of them in their prime over Kyrie. Kyrie can score but overall is overrated. I'll take Gasol over Bosh.

He had 5 rings by then. Who cares?

Kobe's an a-hole. Everyone knows that. But he still won 5 championships despite it. He's still the 3rd leading scorer in NBA history despite it. And he has more 1st team All-NBA selections and 1st team All-Defense selections than anybody in NBA history. Kobe's career is more than great even with his personality shortcomings.

And FYI Jordan was just as bad a teammate as Kobe. He just never had another player of Shaq's caliber challenging him for attention. There are stories of Jordan punching teammates and abusing them verbally. He was by no means an angel. Jordan was as ruthless and selfish as they come. In many ways to get the success Jordan and Kobe achieved you have to be selfish.

I don't care who you prefer. Before joining Kobe, Pau Gasol was only a 1-time All-Star in 7 NBA seasons who never even won a single playoff game. Dwyane Wade was already a champion. Chris Bosh was a 5 time all-star who made it past the 1st round in the playoffs with his own team in Toronto. Kyrie Irving was also a 2-time All-Star before LeBron joined him. Same with Kevin Love who had several All-Star selections pre-LeBron and monster stats.

You can have whatever opinion you want on you prefer. But you can't create your own facts. Based on the data, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love all had more accomplishments pre-Lebron than Pau Gasol before he teammated up with Kobe. Those are just the facts.

Pau Gasol's legacy was elevated big time by joining Kobe. I would argue that players like Chris Bosh and Kevin Love (who were thought of as top 10 players before joining LeBron) saw their standing in the NBA fall after teamming up with LeBron. They were both more highly thought of as players before joining LeBron. Compare that to Gasol who was more highly thought of after he joined Kobe and started winning championships.

Gasol's numbers actually increased or stayed the same playing next to the "selfish" Kobe. While players like Chris Bosh, Kevin Love, and even Dwyane Wade saw their numbers fall playing next to the "unselfish" LeBron.

Gasol scored 18.8 ppg in Memphis and 17.7 in LAL. Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Love, Bosh, Wade, and Irving were all bulk scorers. There is only one ball. Somebody had to give. Don't let common sense get in the way of a good story.

Kobe with Kyrie would have been hilarious.

Odom and Gasol were stars and they were perfect fits. They could score, rebound, defend, and pass and they don't demand the ball a lot. Odom did everything well at a guard level and he was 6' 11" for hell's sakes.

Love and Kyrie don't play D. Kyrie doesn't pass well.

These things matter. It's not just about all star appearances.

Odom was a star? You are trying to compare Lamar Odom and pau gasol to Chris bosh, wade, irving, and Kevin love:lol: typical LeBron lover

Because it works. Jordan delivered EVERY TIME. Lebron hasn't. If you throw "quality" out there, it dies at the Dallas Mavericks...Lebron couldn't even get the Heat to a 7th game. Undeniable failure in liquid form. :)

Lebron was 18 and MJ was 21...

And Lebron was practically professional in high school...played basketball all year long. Didn't happen like that in Jordan's youth. But Jordan won a championship as a true freshman and was the best player in the country for the next two seasons. Drafted by a (then) abysmal Bulls and instantly made them a playoff team.
