Dabo dumps on Tennessee AGAIN!

Dabo is 100% correct. Unfortunately, with the age of Social Media it has greatly magnified the toxic side of fanbases. Every team has them.

I have a good friend that is a high school football coach here in Georgia. He knows all of these guys. Last week, before this ever happened, he told me that Dabo was the nicest most wonderful person before he was ruined by success. He says Dabo is a class A jerk now. BTW, same guy also coached with and is good friends with Shelton Felton. He says the ridiculous McDonalds bag story is totally true and his friends rag him on it every chance they get.

That was a ridiculous call in defense of Dabo. He came slightly unglued. Clemson fans are turning on Dabo - and it is a strain on everyone. You hate it for them.

I’ve heard all about this on the radio for the last few days and I’ve seen it on here. Everyone kind of has the same opinion. Clemson is .500 and just lost to a bad NC State.

Has anyone considered that this guy was a setup? Some guy comes on and questions Dabo and it gives Dabo this public forum to remind everyone how much he’s done for the program and where it stands in relation to Bama and UGA. He can spout off some stats and blah blah it can kind of rally the troops before Notre Dame comes to town. I doubt that’s the case, but it’s possible.

The part where he claims “He NEVER failed at anything in life” was pretty funny.

Yep, especially because it seems to be a bit contradictory:

"I’m 53 years old. And there ain’t one thing in my life ... I have been a part of failure many times. But there ain’t one thing in my life that I’ve ever failed at, Tyler. Never. Ever."

I've definitely seen that conspiracy theory thrown around a lot this week, saying he was a plant so that Dabo would have an opportunity to defend himself on air.

Whether it was or was not, Dabo's response was mildly unprofessional with a tinge of 1698848801575.png

Interesting note- I'm not sticking up for Dabo here, but the media cherry picks soundbites that aren't always in context. If you go listen to coach speak, I've heard Saban calling out some of his fans. Same with Kiffin and Stoops. Monday morning quarterbacks can obviously get under a coaches skin and negativity around a program can be a self fulfilling prophesy. Kiffin and Stoops blaming NIL shortcomings on why their teams are lacking, and begging fan base to "pony up". Saban griping about fans leaving early and going on a rant. And Dabo isn't wrong when he mentions his past success.

Face it, certain fan bases get spoiled. And when a mediocre season finally happens, its the house collapsing, because they become entitled. Yes, Clemson is NOT a blueblood, even though their fans have put them there. Georgia never was, but maybe now?

From an opposing fan standpoint, its kind of interesting to watch a fan base melt down. Somewhere down the road (and hopefully soon) we can actually watch a meltdown of one of these: Bama, Ohio State, Michigan (may be in progress), Georgia. Penn State and Notre Dame, "kind of" , to the tune of what is going on in Gainesville. (Why do we play them so early?)

NIL certainly has an impact on all of this.

It’s awesome if only for the reactionary pious comments from Clemson fans after we landed Matthews. 😅 How’s that “CULTURE” doing boys?

he isn't wrong. if fact his speech got me thinking about our fickle fanbase. his spill about "appreciative" fans vs "critical" fans. after the darkness of clausen's offense under phil, to kiffin leaving in the middle of the night, dooley, jones, and the payments made in mcdonalds bags, i am very appreciative of the current regime. go vols
There's a difference between appreciative and complacent. We should have expectations. We're one of the traditional powers he's referring to. Also they've won 2 national championships so he has room to say that.

I hadn’t seen that theory yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

Besides attacking a veteran on live radio, the sin of pride, nearly proclaming himself to be a God, he took a jab at the Vols, which makes him very wrong.

After his stab at TN, I hope no real fans of the Vols will be on here defending him.
what stab? by pointing out that we haven't had a 10 win season since we beat the badgers in the outback bowl? that's a fact, not a stab. another reason why is super appreciative about the current staff and excited about their potential.

VQ / General's Quarters had a several page thread on it yesterday. I'm not in the conspiracy boat, mainly because he seemed too emotionally raw for it to be a pre-planned response. I think he would have been more respectful; had he not been caught off guard. JMO

Regardless of it being a setup or not, he still took a jab at TN.

The dabos, sarks, harbaughs and kirbys of this world is why I want to see TN get back to being really good again at football. The last few weeks, it seems like ths Vols have been getting suckered punch by these jerks.

I 100% believe it was staged.
You know good and well they screen the calls before the coach gets em. And they have a way to disconnect calls in progress.
They let this one go on and on and on, and the media is running with it.

Really misleading thread title, @EverythingOrange . He didn't dump on the Vols at all. Here is every single word he said about us in that 5-minute rant:

That was it.

His point was, fans should appreciate the sustained success Clemson has had, that it could be far worse, and the Vols' Dark Ages are an example.

That's not an insult. Every word he said about the Vols was true. It had been about 20 years since our previous 11-win season (2001). And we did beat Clemson in the Orange Bowl (heh).

No need to make stuff up in order to manufacture drama. There's enough in the world already.

Big nothing burger here.

Go Vols!
Oh come on JP. The unnecessary drama is so much more entertaining.

The way I see it, is that they wouldn’t be taking jabs at us if we weren’t relevant and they didn’t think about us. We matter now. The difference between us and Clemson or Dabo at this point is…

I would like to see the Vols get really good at football again because being $hitty at the ole foosball is lame.

Don’t hold your breath. There is a contingent of Dabo worshippers that are very vocal on here and will defend everything the guy says or does.

To me, the guy is on the same level as those televangelists proclaiming themselves to be so godly and when they get caught doing something wrong or people ask questions, they turn on the water works and/proclaim themselves to be the “true” one and everyone else is to blame.

Interesting. I wonder how many VOLS fans would take Dabo over Heupel as head coach right now?
