Dabo dumps on Tennessee AGAIN!

Really misleading thread title, @EverythingOrange . He didn't dump on the Vols at all. Here is every single word he said about us in that 5-minute rant:

That was it.

His point was, fans should appreciate the sustained success Clemson has had, that it could be far worse, and the Vols' Dark Ages are an example.

That's not an insult. Every word he said about the Vols was true. It had been about 20 years since our previous 11-win season (2001). And we did beat Clemson in the Orange Bowl (heh).

No need to make stuff up in order to manufacture drama. There's enough in the world already.

Big nothing burger here.

Go Vols!
Lots of thin skins in our fan base

What makes you think this?
because callers are screened and they let that guy go on for a very long time before Dabo responded... they could have cut him off at anytime. Now did they know exactly what he was going to say I don't know... but they know what he was saying and likely what the topic was going to be.

dabo is getting more praise than hate in some media now too...

good timing with Notre Dame coming up and likely another L incoming. Just trying to keep his job

Interesting. I wonder how many VOLS fans would take Dabo over Heupel as head coach right now?
Be like Texas A&M taking Jimbo off of Florida State's hands, but only worse, because we would gave to listen to the weirdo rant after every loss.

Besides attacking a veteran on live radio, the sin of pride, nearly proclaming himself to be a God, he took a jab at the Vols, which makes him very wrong.

After his stab at TN, I hope no real fans of the Vols will be on here defending him.
Sin of pride? Get real dude. When did he proclaim himself to be a God?

The screening process is typically... "What would you like to discuss?"

Still strange to see how TN fans are mocking Dabo and since he is having one bad season in a decade he is all o a sudden washed up and overrated.

HE had two recently. Finshed out last season losing to both South Carolina and the Vols.

He made a career on our downfall so it's only right we started his. He knows what happened

Not that it's likely to happen, but a bowl rematch with the Fightin' Dabos for the Vols wouldn't make me sad.

Perpetuating his downfall further would bring me pleasure. Vols spent plenty of time in the wilderness, time someone else got a taste of it.

And there are a ton of good recruits that roll through Up State SC and NC the Vols could pick up along the way.

Unless he changes his stance on the portal, he's likely going to keep sliding. We're watching the game pass him by in real time, if he stays on this track. Maybe he changes direction and rights the ship. But so far his actions seem to indicate that he won't.

This interview with Dabo lecturing a fan about how he's the problem for not showing enough appreciation supports the idea that he won't. Dabo gets millions in "appreciation" a year. Lecturing that random dude like that makes him look like a desperate, washed up, joke.

Dabo made some bad strategic choices. He's thrashing around trying to find a way to rationalize those choices... and pretend that either they aren't harming Clemson or else that is it "unfair" that they are.

I've never hated the guy. I don't like that many posters here apply a different standard to him because of his open statements and actions concerning faith. But he's cornered now. Frustrated. He probably sees his end at Clemson. He'll have a hard time walking back what he's said about the portal and NIL... but he can't succeed again without both.

A lot of folks could learn the same lesson about making bold, definitive statements about things you don't really control.

I'm not making fun of Dabo for having a bad season, I just don't like the way he coaches. He's one of the last of the old school "coach as a bully". I still remember him screaming at that poor kid who flubbed a punt, then going BACK to the bench and screaming at him AGAIN. In a long life of watching college football, that was the lowest class thing that I have ever seen a big time coach do except for maybe when Woody Hayes punched (ironically) a Clemson player after the kid had the temerity to pick off an Ohio State pass.

Any success Tennessee has, either in recruiting or on the field, hurts Clemson. Both programs are going after similar types of players, and Clemson took advantage of Tennessee's disfunction in the 2010s to bring the kind of players needed to build a championship caliber program. Tennessee has now regained its footing in recruiting. That, and Dabo's refusal to use the transfer portal the way CJH and others have, has hurt the quality of athlete Clemson is bringing in and has caused them to fall back in their on-field results.

I Will always look and glance sideways at the Joel Osteens, Dabo Swinneys and others who pay lip service to God. They boast of their fame and wealth like it is the only true measure of faith. They even start believing they are the Almighty, or only 2nd to him.

I listened to his rant on the air to the young fan who asked why he was making 10 mil. to lose so many games. Dabo at one point said he had worked his ass off! For one thing a devout Christian would not use profanity, and another he clearly hasn't worked his ass off, his ass has become as broad as the south side of a big red barn! He is phony as hades! I'm sending Dabo the gift below!

Dude would be a WR coach at East Carolina right now had Tennessee made one single competent decision between 2008 and 2015

His point is legit re: Tennessee

Look at how closely our decline matched Clemson's rise. Vols are on the rise and it is no coincidence that Clemson is falling as we do so

We compete for the exact same recruits--think of all the studs Phil pulled out of SC. CJH is not a good omen for ole Dabo
