They rolled the dice by staying here on the basis of a POTUS's executive order and promise to forbear prosecution on his watch. Not my problem. What is my problem is people who have no legal basis for being present in this country being here. They do take jobs that those legally present would take, particularly the DACA people because those jobs are on the books, taxed and insured.Do you care about what's legal or what's good?
Why do you assume the economy would be OK? Think about what would happen to the real estate market if 11 million people disappeared. Think about all the major industries that rely on immigrant labor. There is no way you can get rid of 3% of the population and not go through hell, especially if they are disproportionately represented in various industries (farming, restaurant, landscape, construction, etc.).
DACA is about the illegals who are a net positive to our government finances. Making an example of them is just spiteful, divisive partisanship for no good reason.
I love your question though. Do I care about the law or what's right? That question perfectly sums up what is wrong with the country. The only thing that keeps society bound together is the rule of law. Without that, it will just be the law of the jungle. If you don't like the law, work to change it. Break the law and suffer the consequences.
