David Ortiz is a fat slob and a disgrace to the game

I'm surprised there hasn't been a "fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life" reference, yet.

I didnt know the big fella was a lush. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

That's utter stupidity. Last time I checked, baseball doesn't have a clock you can kneel down and run out. Play the same way at 10-2 you'd play at 2-1.

That's just silly Hat. I mean a big lead is always safe, just ask this years version of the Cards or the Reds.

This thread is dumb. The pitcher can buzz or plunk whomever he pleases and the batter can charge if he feels the need. This is the big leagues.

Calling Ortiz a disgrace for charging the mound makes me think that the OP should switch back over to watching ice dancing.

I agree with the OP, kind of.

I see no problem with throwing inside. What is he supposed to do, lob one over the middle to him?? Ortiz acted like a baby.

With that said, Ortiz is very cool off the field, and in no way a disgrace.

I personally don't care for Ortiz, but I have no problem with either party in Brouhaha.

He has one of the most likeable personalities in the league IMO..not just saying that cause I'm a sox fan either.

Always joking around and stuff with the media..I'm not sure what happened tonight though.

Beckett postgame: "Don't just throw at us because we're scoring a lot of runs on you."

If you can't take ownership of both sides of the plate, you don't deserve to pitch.

I couldn't care less about the Cubbies, but Mark Pryor forever earned my respect when he threw inside to Barry Bonds and then complained to the umpire that he actually threw a strike.

That said, just as pitchers can pitch inside (My limit is the head, I honestly have no problems with plunking a batter or two when you're trying to brush them back or make a "statement"), batters have the right to intimidate the pitcher to make them pitch how they want it. Whoever has the bigger marbles wins.

Below the shoulders is perfectly fine at anytime.

I don't really have a problem with fat people, just fat "athlete's" who more than likely wouldn't be playing baseball, especially for an entire season, if he wasn't just a DH.... May go back to my hatred of the DH.

You must REALLY not like Babe Ruth. Hell at the end of his career he didn't even round the bases after a home run.

Throwing inside in the big leagues is always ok in my book. These big pussy hitters hang all over the plate with body armor on and then get mad when someone hits them. Huge forearm and elbow guards need to be outlawed.

Babe batted .342 lifetime, scored 4 billion runs, walked 234 million times, had a slugging percentage that looks like a modern OPS, was the best pitcher in the game for a period, played in the field and drank like a fish. Not sure I'm seeing the comparison.

You forgot to mention he was fat.

Sure he was, but did anybody care? Did it preclude him being the best player in the game? Ortiz is fat, was on roids, strikes out too much and doesn't hit a lick in the field. The comparison doesn't hold much water for me.

It wasn't a direct comparison of Ruth vs. Ortiz. I was trying to make a point that just because a person is fat does not mean they can't be an athlete. Maybe I should have used John Kruk or Rulon Gardner as better examples.

The difference is that Ortiz is not an athlete. Look at Prince Fielder for instance. He is a pretty big guy his self, but he can run, he's pretty agile for his size, and can actually move pretty well. Ortiz doesn't.

Ortiz is 36 years old; Fielder is 27. Great comparison...keep up the good work.
