I would think that would at least open the door to the idea that Trump "might" be proven to have been on to something.Pretending a lawsuit is fact doesn't make him "right," I wish people could still actually think
DEI isn't a rigid set of rules, nor is it the bogeyman it's made to be.ADA doesn't work as DEI does.
ADA says you have to provide access to someone in a wheelchair in some manner that gives them equal access, regardless of there actually being someone in a wheelchair*. Not that you are encouraged to have someone in a wheelchair to provide access to as per DEI.
it also allows for two separate provisions. You can have stairs for "normal" people, as long as you have a ramp for "disabled" people. DEI would be "you can't have stairs, you can only provide a ramp as that is the equitable solution".
#late add, ADA also allows for separate entrances, not very equitable. you have to provide AN accessible entry, but it doesn't have to be the front door. now most good architects are going to do our best to make sure it is the front door, but ADA doesn't require it to be the front door.
*ADA also makes several provisions where ADA access is not required in work areas. somewhat ironically, Air Traffic Control Towers are exempt from ADA. (206.2.3.6_"In air traffic control towers, an accessible route shall not be required to serve the cab and the floor immediately below the cab"). I very much doubt DEI makes similar exceptions.
ADA has a lot of "common sensical" allowances that the more ideological focused DEI wouldn't allow.
He wasn't on to anything, he was quoting the lawsuit directly. Thats where the "too white" thing came from and the suit isn't newI would think that would at least open the door to the idea that Trump "might" be proven to have been on to something.
You are correct that there being such a lawsuit pending is actual proof isn't really accurate. The dismissal of the fact there is indeed a lawsuit against the FAA on the matter isn't a great look either.
I think "we'll see" is probably the only thing in play right now.
There's been a lot of things running around in here so let's make sure we're even discussing the same thing. I'm not talking about this particular incident but much of the conversation has moved beyond that already. (and I am on record saying Trump shouldn't be going this hard on it either) But there IS a lawsuit leveled at the FAA regarding hiring practices. The fact it's not new is actually worse as that would suggest any issues that could be traced to such practices have been known for some time. Last year 11 AG's wrote the FAA administrator regarding hiring practices and priorities. The staffing issues (which also apparently aren't anything new) are going to come under scrutiny. It may be an exaggeratedburger but it's not a nothingburger either. He wasn't on to anything, he was quoting the lawsuit directly. Thats where the "too white" thing came from and the suit isn't new
That’s fine. I completely understand. But this is America and it’s 2025. There are no secrets. This will come out. I’m not advocating for it to come out. But it will.Shock as Army takes 'extraordinary step' over Female Black Hawk Pilot in DC plane crash: Live updates
The US Army has refused to identify the co-pilot of the helicopter in the DC air disaster at the request of the family.
Pilot in charge Chief Warrant Office 2 Andrew Eaves and crew chief Staff Sergeant Ryan O'Hara were named on Friday as those on board.
The Black Hawk helicopter appeared to fly straight into American Airlines Flight 5342 as in came in to land at Reagan National Airport just before 9pm on Wednesday.
Military personnel killed in accidents or combat are usually made public 24 hours after their families are notified, making withholding her name very unusual.
'At the request of the family, the name of the third soldier will not be released at this time,' the US Army said.
Relatives are entitled to do this, it is extremely unusual, with the New York Times branding the decision to withhold the name an 'extraordinary step'.

Both the instructor pilot in charge, identified as Chief Warrant Office 2 Andrew Eaves, and the female co-pilot were being evaluated during the flight and were familiar with the route.www.dailymail.co.uk
Fair, I was talking about stuff like the below that he said yesterday. He learned about the lawsuit, which is a couple years old, and started just citing things mentioned in it as if they were fact, so that he could use this incident (which had nothing to do with DEI) to attack DEI again. There's been a lot of things running around in here so let's make sure we're even discussing the same thing. "I had to say that it's terrible," he said, citing what he called a story about a group within the FAA that had "determined that the [FAA] workforce was too white, that they had concerted efforts to get the administration to change that and to change it immediately. This was in the Obama administration, just prior to my getting there, and we took care of African Americans, Hispanic Americans."
Probably nothing in this case. Helo was apparently 100 feet above max altitude and veering off course. Maybe the other controller could have engaged him more? I've flown on military helos a lot in the past..we literally flew at whatever altitude we wanted. I remembe hearing foreign ATC screaming at us to get to a proper altitude while the pilots laughed at them. It was fun when I was 23..but now seems pretty dumb. What would a second ATC on duty then and there have done or not done to prevent the crash?
