FAA had 19 on staff instead of the recommended 30 for that tower. When you’re operating at 63% it’s amazing more events haven’t happened. As your focus is on Trump, stay focused on the things that could have been prevented.

How does this even happen? As someone leery of flying, I try to reassure myself that safety systems are extremely stringent and that the people I'm entrusting my life with are competent and in good supply.

DEI should not have been a focal point of discussion today, but it was. Trump should have limited his remarks to the victims and their families. He is too concentrated on fighting these partisan political battles on a daily basis.

He shouldn’t have mentioned it… Wasnt the time or place. However there was 1000 air traffic controller applicants that passed their tests and were rejected because the class was “too white” theres currently a lawsuit over it. It started during the Obama admin wanting to diversify the FAA more. As a result there’s been a major shortage of air traffic controllers. There was a record number of what they call “close calls” during the Biden admin

This crash isn’t a result of “DEI” but there’s definitely a problem that needs to be fixed and addressed

Does not look like a direct result of DEI, but Trump is privy to some information we don't have and popped off too soon.

The DEI initiatives in ATC are not new. They just picked up steam since 2008. Ex-father-in-law was an ATC and had stories about things done to work around incompetent controllers to keep the planes safe. And the incompetent ones were "promoted" off the floor into management.

My daughter has a good friend, her mother flew Super Hornets off carrier decks. She was apparently pretty good - now she captains flight crews for FedEx.
