Mark Richt has lost control of QB room
Indeed, but it's not a sustainable model, imo. You can only get so much water from the same well. Continuing to rely on 3 stars and former walk ons to lead your offense to a Natty isn't really sustainable, imo. Especially with OU and Texas joining the SEC and UGA not getting an automatic bid to the SECCG anymore.I would say things have worked out well for them
Maybe he had enough of being on teams LOADED at his position and wanted a team he knew 100% he’d be the starter on and can just focus on everything else. IdkLooks like Raiola finally figured it out. If you are a 5 star QB, you only go to UGA if you want a chance a ring. You go virtually anywhere else if you want to actually play and get coached up for the NFL.
Surprised that's it's Nebraska he's going to though. Really figured he would flip back to OSU with them needing a QB.
I’m sure playing for Matt Rhule has something to do with it. Big pickup for him. Might be the spark they need to get things going.Looks like Raiola finally figured it out. I get a kick out of the representation argument, and the absurd implication that follows.Stop breaking it out by male/female when all 133 coaches are male.
Edit: Also as we discussed it doesn’t make sense just to look at total population, you need to look at the % of black players in the sport for the best estimation.
You’re certainly entitled to bad opinions.I get a kick out of the representation argument, and the absurd implication that follows.
That if tomorrow, 47% of P5 coaches were black, that what he said would no longer be “ok”.
That those offering up the”yea, buts” and excuses would reverse course and say - “nope, can’t say that… now”
It’s absurd. It wouldn’t happen. There would simply be a new reason it’s “ok”.
yeah, but my point was the high end players. It makes sense that the guys who ride the bench, are practice squad, signal in plays from the sidelines, or just play at a lower level become coaches. that was essentially their job when they "played". it was those guys who had to struggle to get every rep, were the technician types that had to figure things out who are going to have a better grasp on the coaching aspect than the guys who can just go out there and play.So a pretty high % play some sort of college football. We do see plenty of black assistant coaches due to that fact, imo, because there are so many black players at this level (assumption here - I don’t have the #s to know for sure if assistant coaches are better aligned with the demographic in the sport). It just has not translated into a lot getting HC positions to this point.
UGA is not "loaded" at his position. Even if Beck comes back. Vandergriff (their last 5 star) is gone. The only other scholarship QB is Gunnar Stockton.Maybe he had enough of being on teams LOADED at his position and wanted a team he knew 100% he’d be the starter on and can just focus on everything else. Idk
