'24 DC OT Jordan Seaton (Future Portal Entry)

That is what Brandon Baker is doing 100% when Tennessee makes his top 5 tomorrow. I don't think that is the case here.

I think we're going to be a real player and put a very strong foot forward. I believe he'll be coming through the weekend of UTSA. We're obviously not the leaders but it wouldn't shock me if we make a very compelling case around this.

He's a really talented prospect. Shot up the rankings after dropping 40+ pounds between sophomore and junior year and I'd expect he moves up again based on how well he played Friday and the level of competition IMG will face. Not quite at Sisi Mauigoa's level but he has the talent to be a plug and play type starter for us next year.
With us sitting now at 20 and Hubbs saying the number is 22. Is there a chance that some current commits be asked to settle for NIL money and give up their scholarship to make room for guys like Seaton or Wingo if the want in after we hit 22?

I'm not so sure 22 is the number anymore. Id say the herd will be thinned before Dec. 85 is the only number that matters.

Id say 23, High Schoolers. Unless bigger fish want in.

Leave room for portal.

Hubbs very much said that number is a moving target and that there’s certain guys who won’t be turned away.

No I’m not sure that’s really a thing. There are rules in place that make it tough to do. More likely would be git shirts given to guys currently on the roster to make room.

Bingo, coaches will churn the roster as the season ends to free up space for better players. Happens all the time at championship programs

I expect us to sign more than that. I’m thinking we bring 24-25 in and make room.

Wingo, Okoye, Demello, Seaton, Cole, mikell, Amaris, Fountain, Trader, Bates, all guys we know the staff is pursuing and probably would not turn away if they wanted in.

Tennessee will sign more than 23 if they’re the right guys. I see 62 guys with some remaining 2024 eligibility, but not all will return. Wright, Thornton, Mays, McCoy, and Castles will head to the NFL with productive seasons. Others will enter the portal. I’m guessing Tennessee signs about 26, then picks up another 2-3 in the portal.

Exactly, there is no 25 per year rule right now and we might lose as many as 30-35 players off of this year's team, depending on draft decisions and guys wanting to use their extra COVID year. But, we won't take guys just to take them. But, we could only take 23-25 high school players and leave room for 7-10 portal transfers.

Castles has no remaining eligibility after this season.

I don't think this will be a strategy for just this year. IMO, this staff and other programs too will set a bar and only recruit players above it. They may take on some strategic "project" players but even then they'll regard them as low risk/high return investments. The portal and NIL make it possible to swing for a select group of HS players and miss. You can go into the portal and pay a proven player big NIL money for a year or two to make up deficiencies in HS recruiting.

You mean 83….85-2
So maybe this is a dumb question but do we have to take those scholarship penalties right away or could we take a larger scholarship penalty the next year? I do know there’s probably some massaging the numbers to make it all work though if elite kids want in this year.

1. Kamron Mikell
2. Danny Okoye
3. Chris Cole
4. Nasir Smith
5. Jordan Seaton

If we pull this off I would put our OL, DL and WR class up against anyone's in the country...especially the OL, I know UGA's is pretty awesome but it would be one of the best I've ever seen UT get for sure

I really think we flip Williams from Florida too. He’s already on the fence and honestly I think that program is going to struggle this year. Of course if we lose at Florida somehow then everything changes but I think we flip him.
