Deadpool

I said earlier in this thread that the trailer looked absolutely stupid to me. I still stand by that. The movie was a lot better than I thought. I'll say 8/10.

Echoing earlier, Stan Lee had a great cameo.

I know nothing about Deadpool..but an R rated mutant movie? Hoping its better than Watchmen (which I liked).

People have mentioned that it was pushing that R rating. I gotta say, I didn't see it. It was pretty mild compared to other R rated movies. I knew nothing about it prior either, but enjoyed it.

Saw yesterday, and I really enjoyed it. I thought they did Deadpool justice. My wife went with me and she knew nothing about Deadpool and she thought it was a funny movie.

Brought in $135 mil over the weekend. That's a number summer blockbusters would mostly happy with.

And that was with a Rom-com and a Comedy as opening competition on Valentines weekend.

Assuming it has no worse than a 50% drop off in week 2, then it should break $200 mil fairly easily.

Already has, the $135 million number is domestic only. It's made $260 Million+ world wide, and this is all without China! Deadpool (2016) - Box Office Mojo

Breaking ALL the R rated and February records!

Same. It was okay. I had a few laughs but nothing spectacular.

No it wasn't an all time great like Dr Strangelove but by far the best marvel movie yet. If you were expecting anything more than a violent action comedy then you missed the point

Die it fit into the X-Men movie continuity or do they just ignore it?

Do they poke fun at Wolverine: Origins?

I just hope they don't make him the new Wolverine and force feed him to us in everything. Though it would be funny to see him in an XMen movie cussing only to get bleeped out, then proceeding to cuss at whoever censored him.

This is exactly my thoughts. I do think they will cross him over and that exact thing will happen.

I wasn't expecting anything more than a violent, self referential action comedy and that's what I got. I thought it was meh. I also disagree that it was the best Marvel movie.

word is the success of Deadpool despite R rating has Fox thinking the 3rd and final Hugh Jackman Wolverine will be rated R as well.

I'm not sure it suits Wolverine's character as well as it suits a character like Deadpool.

I think some studios looking at future projects are going to mistake this film's success as having come from the R-rating, not how well it was done.

I agree. I also think Wolverine should be more accessible to all audiences.

And personality I'd rather see him put on a costume with a his iconic mask than see more blood and hear f-bombs.

Full disclosure: I still haven't watched The Wolverine.

I have a feeling this film is going to bomb!

The more I have seen from the trailers I have decided I have no interest in seeing this film!

Out of the top 30 grossing films this year only 6 are Rated - R and the highest grossing is Fifty Shades of Grey and #16!

Just my opinion but when you look at the epic list of films scheduled for release in 2016, I would be shocked if this cracks the top 30!

How you dealing with the "shock"? :)
