Dealership wrecked MY brand new car

In thinking back about this whole situation, pots should have been concerned that there was a "miss" in idle on a low mileage, new vehicle. That would have been a manufacturing issue.

You know what, I thought about that at the time this thread started as well. Is his wife sure she heard a "miss"? That is just an odd problem to be having in a brand new car.

Not getting into that until it happens. I'm sure the dealership is aware of this thread and I don't want to give them a heads up on combating it. But I can assure you, I will have their attention.

I think you're mistaken as to how many f#!cks they actually give.

check out the link I just posted........this guy got a new car replacement

A couple big differences are that the dealership he used for repairs doesn't sell his make and model. Also I don't believe the damage was nearly as awful. That Subaru appears to be totaled. The cheaper solution is replacing, not repairing.

Oh, and at this point, can't POTS at least tell us the make he has and the make of the place he went? It's difficult to continue discussions so vaguely when we can just say "He had a Lexus and went to a Toyota dealership."

If I'm not mistaken I think he was having his Infiniti serviced at a Nissan dealership. Either that or he was having his 458 italia serviced at the local fiat dealership.

Has he tried to contact corporate for more assistance?

I'd add that Subaru corporate is a different animal than Nissan.

In that situation they're dealing with a negative situation that went viral right in the middle of their target demos.

I don't think this situation is the same.

the threats certainly didn't help

IMO, it still boils down to this:

What does the dealership have to do?

Vs.

What the dealership "should" do.

Vs.

What the dealership is actually willing to do.

time to send Vito to the dealership I would say

Searching for advice on this. Bought a car a couple of months ago and the wife was taking it to a closer dealership for it's very first oil change. On the way there, my wife noticed a slight miss when it was at idle and wanted to know if they could check it out. They decided to take it on a test run to find the issue and the mechanic wrecked the car in their own parking lot against a trailer of some kind. Not sure the details, but my car is scraped all the way down the side and gashed the wheel (not tire though). The scrape is deep enough that will require all parts to be replaced and one door is dented in.

The dealership has accepted responsibility but has only offered to fix the car. My problem is that I will now own a brand new car with a bad title that has certainly devalued my car by thousands even when fixed. I have called on several occasions to talk to the GM or owner but the best they can offer me is the service manager, who cannot get me anything approved over what they have already offered which I HAVE NOT ACCEPTED. They said the GM wouldn't be in until Friday and they never see the owner.

I guess my question is, what kind of advice would you give me?

Whose name did the car have on it?

The car is worth less than when he took it in. No?

It has been wrecked. I don't care what dealer he took it to, I font care if he took it to Walmart.

The screwed up his car. They are jerking him around instead of showing good business practices.

He needs to hammer their ass. Every day this goes by unresolved, it's going to cost the dealer more.

Doubtful, it's more likely going to cost 9296potsguy more to fight this battle.

I wouldn't say it's costing either of us anything at the moment. Their insurance is still paying for my rental for more than 3 weeks though.

Not necessarily. It's wouldn't be a no no if their garage liability is an excess coverage rather than a primary coverage.

True, but only a second rate agent would write the policy that way..... Unless the dealership instructed them to..... And only a second rate dealer would want to carry anything other than direct primary coverage.

Which by the time this is all settled will most likely ending up costing them more than had they just given you a new car
