Debate thread

These guys both need shock collars each time they go off subject. I've seen better debates at the local waterhole with both guys 10 beers in.

Pleasantly surprised. I figured they would either carry Biden through this or be adversarial against Trump.

There was a revamp of CNN with new ownership a year or so. Perhaps it is showing.

The Owner criticized it for basically being too leftist and wanted to get more back to the center.

I loved CNN back in the day. It's quality (not just being leftist but overall journalism, articles, grammar, graphical displays, etc.) dropped significantly. Perhaps they have new life.

Don’t see anyone coming in this late and winning. Should have stepped down after the mid-terms.
It's too late for that. The party leadership would have to step in and override the primary results and charter at the DNC by nominating a new candidate.

Or he can oluntarily decline the nomination at the convention, then it would be brokered.

I just turned on TV. Was out. Initial impression is that Biden looks weak. Trump making dramatic overclaims.

So, as expected.
Fair but Biden did say Trump wants to cut Police so I would say both are making dramatic overclaims. Like every debate in history.

I'm now convinced. To those that said Biden wouldn't be the nominee: you were right, I was wrong. There is no way the Democrats can run him thru November.

If his campaign survives another week, I’ll be both shocked and disgusted by the DNC

kinda kills the democracy rhetoric

The truth of the matter is that this debate will not change the mind of the voters.

And the 15 economists who say the economy will go to he$$ if Trump is elected?

Read the article published today (maybe yesterday) about the so called “experts” as most, if not all, donate money to Biden and the Dems.

I don't know what a "fair share is" but the bottom half of earners pay about 2% of all income taxes so somebody has to be paying the other 98%

Most of our income taxes come from Companies (look it up). The rich have their money (like Musk) in their companies via stocks. They are not in piggie banks like Scrooge McDuck which is most liberals tend to think.

I can be for a plan to tax the rich more but their take on it is lazy and has no real ideas. It is a simple political gag to get votes. They aren't going to do anything and if they did, it would be against the Middle Class.

That’s probably the path then. No way they’re gonna let this guy stay on the ballot in November. Wish I could be a fly on the wall to hear all these discussions that are about to take place throughout the DNC.

Trump has always made the mistake of not leaning harder on attacks against Biden over the Afghanistan withdrawal. He did just bring it up, but he really needs to lean into it. It's effective, that will probably go down as the greatest mistake of Biden's term.

I notice he opened the door for any income above $170,000 instead of the $400,000 he was spewing before....
