Deer preseason 2016

I also heard that , but I've seen a few pictures of the current record , and when they get that big , it's hard to say from a picture. Can't wait to hear what it scored . It's a one in a million buck either way

Amen to that buddy. It's probably a state record but might not be a world record. I just know it's HUGE! Got to be close to 275-300lbs.

I seen a lot of deer in my life both alive & dead & this is the biggest one I've ever seen & I'm nearly 46 years of age.

You can't even count the 47pts. this thing has & his body is really big. Very old deer! Nice job for whoever killed it because this deer has survived a many winters. :)

They said TWRA scored it at 308 which would make it the new world record but they will score it again after it goes through the mandatory 60 day drying period for Boone&Crockett official records meanwhile the rack is being stored in a vault at a local bank to insure it's safe keeping. The rack alone is worth around 100,000$ not to mention all the endorsements that guy is going to be getting. A fine deer for sure!

He's going to be on every outdoor/deer hunting magazine made in the coming spring period. I will get at least one of them for safe keeps & to say that a person from the state of Tennessee killed the world record whitetail deer. That is so cool to think about & hear.

I'm happy for the guy. As much as I love to hunt I want other hunters to be successful as well. Ain't nothing like that adrenaline feeling. I bet he felt like he was on cloud 9. I think I read the deer dropped as soon as he shot him.

That was some crazy luck or maybe divine intervention because every buck that I've ever shot I've had to track for yards & yards & a couple for over a mile. Can't wait to read & see the stories out on this one. Awesome! :good!:

Wonder what magazine gets 1st dibs? I would bet Tennessee Sportman is where we'll see this story 1st. That or Tennessee Outdoorsman.

This is a picture of a picture , but just wanted to share a photo of a buck I harvested a few years back in Sumner county , the same county the record buck was taken this year . I know there are quality deer all over the state , but Sumner county always seems to produce nice deer every year

If it green scored 308, it will not be a new world record. The current world record according to Boone & Crocket is 307 5/8. It will shrink more than 3/8. Unbelievable trophy either way.

There's no guarantee it will shrink 3/8 before it gets checked again. I've seen them go months setting like that & only shrink a little more than 1/4. It's going to be interesting to see what happens with it though. I say it will stand as the new world record myself.

I personally know a taxidermist & asked him some questions about this too & he said it's really going to be up in the air with the conditions it sets in until the check next time.

Non-typicals usually shrink a greater amount than typically because of the sheer volume of antler. I would be blown away if it didn't shrink less than an inch. Of course the initial TWRA measurement could be off too.

That is just an unbelievable rack. I'm at awe over the rack on this deer. Could set at look at the rack photo for hours.

It's so hard to count the 47 antlers on this thing it's so wide & huge. This deer was an old one & can guarantee he's outsmarted quite a few hunters in his lifetime.

Good that he was killed really because with his age he probably wouldn't have lived more than a couple more years or so anyhow. Wow, what a rack & what a deer. I hope & pray this deer ends up being the world record.

My nephew also said there were 3 places where tines were broken off , that would have added as much as 12 additional inches to the total measured . He also said it had 5 inches of deductions to bring it to 308 3/8 .
